Turn back the centuries in this historic country villa in the very heart of Capri. Built in classic Neapolitan style, its white-washed ramparts date to the early 17th century. Large columns frame the garden stairway to the main entrance, with century-old palm and citrus trees ablaze with flowers and ornamental shrubbery. The ideal villa stay should you be attending the UNICEF Gala x LuisaViaRoma in Capri this summer.

The spacious setting consists of seven elegantly decorated units, named for the kind of guests who have been lucky enough to stay in this property over the ages. The charming Artist’s Room has a fabulous bathroom in white marble mosaic and two antique bathtubs. The Voyager’s Room displays items acquired from long-ago Asian voyages, and features a massive four-poster bed draped with ornate fabric. The Venetian Room hearkens to a striking 18th century bookcase from Venice, while its en-suite contains a large Turkish bath crafted in the scagliola style. The Collectors’ room displays a fabulous collection of Neapolitan paintings from the 1700s, along with a Jacuzzi tub and stirring sea vistas. The Garden Suite is a duplex bedroom with fully operating empire marble tub. Up to four people can sleep here, as there are two separate bedrooms and bathrooms.

The only part of this villa not firmly planted in the past is all the modern amenities, like Wi-Fi, computer equipment, audio system, exercise room and steam/sauna bath. And the centrally situated swimming pool is, unsurprisingly, immaculate.

Capri is reached by a 30-minute ferry ride from Sorrento. The property is about a 15-minute walk from its second city, Anacapri, in the south-west, which is regarded as the most tranquil and unspoiled part of the entire region.
