Just a stones throw from Tottenham Court Road, this outpost is far more than just a hairdressers. This is a destination to hang out, work, grab a coffee, be inspired and of course leave with luxurious new locks.
I’d walked past House of Keune by Bloom a few times since its opening and was curious about this large creative space.
Initially in Scotland, it expanded into London in partnership with the 100 years loyal salon brand, Keune. The space is huge and extremely aesthetically pleasing, but most importantly it has celebrity hairdresser and Keune ambassador Andrew Barton at its helm, who has worked with the likes of Jerry Hall and Eva Longoria. Andrew is a previous winner of the British Hairdresser of the Year award and has a wealth of experience within the industry working in salon, educating, celebrity and fashion shoots of all kinds!
Having been so busy at work, I’d taken to colouring my own hair, which on the first couple of attempts had gone pretty well, but now the colour was uneven and I hadn’t been able to keep on top of my roots. Thinking I was being clever I’d also applied a colour stripper before my appointment to try and take it back to its natural state - so all in all it was in desperate need of professional love and care.
My first impression of the salon was that it was bright, spacious and modern. Unlike many hairdressers which squeeze as many chairs in close proximity as possible, here I had my very own private airy space, in which I was encouraged to take phone calls and enjoy my time away from my desk. Having met my stylist Mel, who I must say was very kind about the state of my hair, I relaxed straight away and felt I could put all my trust in her. She definitely knew what she was doing, having spent 20 years at Aveda before leaving to join House of Keune by Bloom.
I explained that I wanted to start lightening it up for the summer, with a few highlights throughout, but to keep the dark base - ultimately get rid of my grey roots and restore some health and shine. Mel was the perfect stylist for the job, as she offers bespoke services that are tailor made for each individual, and works strictly on a one-to-one basis.
Having run through the colour options, where I explained I was putting my full trust into her, Mel set to work. As we chatted away, the time flew by and soon it was time to rinse, gloss and treat the hair. The basins are in a spacious set up at the back of the salon, sectioned off by a partition wall, to stop passers by looking in as you enjoy a massage and have the colour taken off.
After a quick cut and blow dry my new hair was revealed, and I was over the moon! I loved the new colour and having had an inch cut off and an argan oil treatment applied (which smelt gorgeous by the way) my hair not only felt healthy again, but the shine had been restored.
Before I left, I was introduced to some of the Keune Hair Cosmetic range; a shampoo and conditioner to try at home and hydrating spray - which I must say I am really enjoying. The salon is committed to sustainability with the programme Keune Cares, and only uses environmentally responsible haircare and colouring products.
With the sun shining, I popped on my sunglasses and left the salon with a spring in my step and with the ultimate aim to make this my regular go to salon.
