Spending New Year’s Day in London may not be as popular as the fireworks and champagne show from the eve before, but we can’t think of a better way to start 2019 than to keep the celebration going with a delicious, hearty—and yes, boozy—brunch. From bottomless cocktails to lobster benedicts, we’ve found the best places in town for you to keep the party going and celebrate #BloodyMaryDay to the fullest.

Aster

Located right in front of Victoria station sits relaxed, all-day French-Nordic brasserie Aster. Enjoy their three-course brunch offering with highlights such as the black currant herring with new potatoes and sour cream, roasted salmon with heritage squash, and Marzipan cocoa Chantilly meringue with lingonberry. Whilst you can opt for the bottomless Prosecco, we’ve got our eye on their inventive cocktails like the Vanilla-infused Akvavit with passion fruit puree and Spumante.

The Grill at The Dorchester

Nothing says indulgence quite like spending the first day of the year at the iconic Dorchester Hotel.  The Grill at The Dorchester’s New Year’s Day brunch runs from 11am-3pm and costs £70. Dishes include chicken liver terrine with cranberries, native lobster benedict, and smoked-braised beef short rib with a truffle sauce. There is also a bottomless cocktail option with unlimited bloody marys, mimosas, bellinis, or their Sommelier’s choice of wines. The full menu can be accessed here.

Neptune

If it’s a taste of the high seas you fancy, make your way over to modern seafood-focused restaurant Neptune in Bloomsbury. An oyster bar sits in the centre of the dining room with a spread of selected shellfish from independent growers around the UK. To finish off New Years Day brunch, their bloody mary oyster shooters, crab omelette with shellfish butter, and smoked haddock kedgeree will give you a guaranteed jump-start to your morning. See the complete offering here.

Holborn Dining Room at Rosewood London

If you’re on the lookout for the perfect combination of British heritage and contemporary sophistication for your New Years Day brunch, look no further than luxury hotel Rosewood London. Its Holborn Dining Room is a grand brasserie offering the best of locally-sourced British ingredients. Their three-course New Year’s Day brunch menu costs £75 per person and includes a glass of R de Ruinart Brut NV and dishes such as burrata with Colossal olives and Pedro Ximenez vinegar, roast Suffolk pork belly with Bramley apple and sage jus, and sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream.

Cakes & Bubbles

If you have a sweet tooth to satisfy, you’re in luck! Voted the World’s Best Pastry Chef, Albert Adria of elBulli and Tickets has gifted Londoners with his new venture Cakes & Bubbles at the Hotel Café Royal. On New Year’s Day, they’re open from 11am-6pm and guests can experience some of Adria’s whimsical masterpieces like the frozen coconut and chocolate flower, the mango sorbet with mandarin and ginger, or the famous Tickets cheese cake with Coulommiers cheese, hazelnut, and white chocolate. Don’t forget to check out their extensive list of bubbles including Grand Marques champagne, vintage wines, and French fizz. Browse the full menu for more options.
