Tucked away in the Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve renowned for its vibrant marine life and crystal-clear waters, Amilla is a hidden gem that captivates guests with its unique charm, exceptional offerings, and prime location.
Set on a pristine island, this unassuming five-star resort is perfect for both couples and families seeking a tranquil getaway. With an array of activities, spacious accommodations—including private villas—and a focus on catering to individual dietary needs, Amilla offers a personalized and truly relaxing experience.
Spacious Villas with Private Pools
Amilla is one of the few resorts in the Maldives to offer spacious accommodations, each featuring its own private swimming pool. This is a rare offering in the Maldives, where many resorts have varying villa categories and consider pools an additional feature rather than a standard amenity. When guests book a stay at Amilla, they can rest assured that their villa will include a private pool, providing not only the quintessential Maldivian experience but also added value with generous space and unparalleled privacy.
For larger groups or families traveling together, Amilla offers an impressive selection of multi-bedroom villas, providing the perfect balance of luxury, space, and privacy. These larger villas are particularly well-suited for multi-generational families who want to bond while maintaining their own personal space. Whether you’re traveling with children, grandparents, or friends, Amilla ensures that everyone has a comfortable and relaxing stay.
During our stay, we had the pleasure of experiencing their Over Water Villa which offers plenty of space, particularly for those travelling with younger children and their need to run around. The Over Water Villa featured hard-wood flooring throughout, opening up to a living area that leads to the main bedroom, which opens out onto your own private deck with a swimming pool, overlooking the stunning Indian Ocean. The in-villa experience is designed to be relaxed and comfortable, with a minimalist aesthetic that's ideal for those who don't care too much for fancy decor, fixtures and modern hardware. Although somewhat outdated, the villa's are pristine and in superb condition.
There's a complete sense of ease at Amilla, where the resort wants you to experience its natural island and stunning ocean views without having to focus too much on the design features, and because the villas are sizeable this gives families the opportunity to enjoy their time in privacy without feeling confined. The resort is easily accessible, ensuring that older guests feel well-catered for and truly taken care of during their stay at Amilla.
Activities
Amilla offers a diverse range of activities that cater to all interests and age groups. Unlike many other luxury resorts in the Maldives that can sometimes feel isolated or repetitive in their offerings, Amilla makes sure every day feels different and exciting. For us, one of the highlights was the daily activity schedule, which included private Tai Chi lessons with the resort's Guest in Residence, yoga sessions at their stunning yoga pavilion surrounded by lush greenery, and an array of complimentary water sports like windsurfing and snorkeling. The guided nature walks were another standout, offering a chance to explore the island’s rich flora and fauna with a knowledgeable guide. Additionally, guests can take part in a complimentary family photo session—an excellent way to capture precious moments with loved ones while on holiday.
For families, the resort offers a well-rounded kids' club experience at Sultan Village, where younger guests can enjoy a range of activities designed to keep them engaged and entertained. While the kids' club provides a solid selection of options, we felt that there’s potential to expand on the creativity and engagement in the activities, perhaps incorporating more interactive experiences for the children.
Personalised Dining based on Guests Dietary Needs
Amilla offers a variety of dining options, with standout restaurants such as Feeling Koi, an elevated Japanese restaurant that serves fresh sashimi, sushi, and mouthwatering lobster, all while overlooking the ocean. For a complete experience, guests can enjoy a cocktail at the Sunset Bar to take in the stunning views before heading to dinner.
What truly sets Amilla apart, however, is its commitment to catering to a wide range of dietary needs. In an era where dietary preferences and restrictions are becoming increasingly common, Amilla is one of the few resorts in the Maldives that offers a truly personalized dining experience, tailored to every guest’s specific requirements. Whether you're following a Keto, gluten-free, vegan, or any other dietary plan, the resort's culinary team is dedicated to crafting meals that not only meet your needs but also exceed your expectations.
This attention to dietary diversity is particularly important for today’s traveler, who may have specific health or lifestyle choices that shape their eating habits. From individuals managing food allergies to those seeking wellness-focused meals, Amilla ensures that guests can enjoy the full luxury of a Maldives vacation without the stress of worrying about food. This inclusivity creates a sense of ease and enjoyment, knowing that every meal will be both safe and delicious, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the experience without compromise.
The resort’s flexibility and commitment to personalized dining means that each guest’s culinary journey is as unique as their stay, with flavors and dishes designed to cater to every palate. Whether you’re enjoying a romantic dinner by the beach, sampling international cuisine, or savoring a special dietary meal, Amilla ensures your dining experience is as exceptional as the rest of your Maldives getaway.
Conclusion: Amilla – Exceptional Value, Unmatched Comfort, and Personalized Luxury
As the resort is set on a spacious island, it naturally provides guests with plenty of space to enjoy privacy and relaxation. The sprawling villas and expansive outdoor areas give guests the luxury of seclusion, making it ideal for those looking to escape the crowds or for multi-generational families or groups who want to spend time together without feeling cramped. Despite its five-star status, Amilla maintains an unpretentious vibe. It avoids the large crowds and over-the-top luxury often found at other resorts, giving guests a more intimate, relaxed, and personalized experience. This makes it a great choice for those seeking a more low-key, but still luxurious, stay in the Maldives.
In a destination known for its unparalleled luxury, Amilla in the Maldives stands for its ability to offer a truly personalized experience. Whether you're seeking adventure with a variety of daily activities, unwinding in your own private villa with a pool, or savoring meals overlooking the ocean, Amilla creates a space where every guest feels at home.
