Located on Wardour Street, Dr Ducu Clinics are a leading aesthetician practice specialising in aesthetics and hair transplants.
"My passion for the aesthetics industry is deeply rooted in my family’s history," Dr Ducu Botoaca told The Sybarite.
"For generations, we’ve had a strong tradition of medicine, with at least five doctors in each generation. Growing up in this environment, I developed a deep appreciation for the art and science of medicine. Aesthetics, in particular, fascinated me because it allows me to blend this medical legacy with a creative approach to enhancing natural beauty. It’s incredibly fulfilling to help people feel more confident and comfortable in their own skin."
Below, read our conversation with Dr Botoaca as he discusses everything from industry innovations to summer skincare must-haves.
1. What are your most popular in-clinic treatments, and do you have any signatures?
Our most popular procedures include Non-Surgical DBL™️ (Non surgical BBL), SkinTight™️ treatments, and Hair & Eyebrow transplants. These treatments are highly sought after because they provide significant, natural-looking results without the need for surgery. All of those procedures have unique protocols developed by me, which makes them unique and only available at our clinic. Our signature approach combines these treatments with a deep understanding of each client’s unique needs, ensuring personalised care that enhances natural beauty.
2. Could you explain what BBL means and shed light on its scientific foundations?
In the context of our clinic, BBL refers to the Non-Surgical Brazilian Butt Lift, a procedure that enhances the shape and size of the buttocks without surgery. This treatment uses dermal fillers (Hyaluronic Acid) to add volume and contour, providing a natural lift and improved silhouette. The science behind it involves in assessing the patient anatomy. This non invasive approach offers a safer alternative to traditional surgical BBLs, with less downtime and fewer risks. Our technique minimise the risk of infection and migration, where proudly for 8 years of being on this market we have a 0% infection rate.
3. How long has your clinic been open, and how has it evolved?
While I’ve been in the aesthetics industry for over 10 years, our clinic opened its doors two years ago. In this short time, we’ve rapidly grown, establishing ourselves as a premier destination for advanced aesthetic treatments. We’re excited to be expanding even further, with plans to open a new location in Mayfair, a second clinic in London, and an international branch in Toronto. These expansions reflect our commitment to providing cutting-edge, personalised care to a broader audience.
4. Post-summer, lots of our readers will be dealing with dry, sun-damaged skin. What treatment is best to combat this?
After summer, it’s essential to rehydrate and repair sun-damaged skin. At our clinic, we recommend treatments that incorporate polynucleotides, exosomes, and our Preime Dermal Facial. These therapies work together to deeply hydrate the skin, promote cellular repair, and restore the skin’s natural barrier. Polynucleotides and exosomes, particularly those derived from salmon stem cells, which closely mimic human DNA, are highly effective in rejuvenating the skin and addressing damage at a cellular level. This comprehensive approach ensures that your skin recovers quickly, leaving it refreshed and revitalised.
5. What are some skincare non-negotiables our readers should adhere to this year?
Skincare non-negotiables that I always recommend include daily use of a high-SPF sunscreen, even on cloudy days, to protect against UV damage. Incorporating a good vitamin C serum is essential for its antioxidant properties, which help in repairing and protecting the skin. Regular exfoliation is also crucial to keep the skin clear and allow other products to penetrate more effectively. Finally, hydration cannot be overstated—both by drinking plenty of water and using a good moisturiser suitable for your skin type.
6. How do you think this field will evolve, and what innovations or breakthroughs might we expect in the coming years?
The aesthetics field is evolving rapidly, with advancements in personalised medicine and regenerative treatments leading the way. I foresee a greater integration of technology, such as AI-driven diagnostics and treatments tailored to individual genetic profiles. Non-invasive procedures will continue to grow in popularity as techniques become more sophisticated, offering results that were once only achievable through surgery. At our clinic, we’re already embracing the future with offerings like DNA testing for biological age, nutrition, hair, and acne. These allow us to create highly personalised treatment plans both for topical application or oral administration, and by utilising exosomes derived from salmon stem cells, which closely resemble human DNA. This approach is paving the way for more effective and customised care.
7. What innovation in the beauty industry is currently exciting to you?
One of the most exciting innovations in the beauty industry right now is the development of injectable treatments that go beyond just filling lines or adding volume. We’re seeing the rise of injectables that can improve skin quality by stimulating collagen production such as our SkinTight™️ treatment and even treatments that can be customised at a molecular level to match a patient’s unique needs. This means we can achieve more natural and long-lasting results, which is always the ultimate goal in aesthetic medicine.
