Among Hong Kong’s ever-evolving luxury hotel scene, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong remains one of the city’s most reliable and comfortable addresses.

Conveniently located in the heart of Wan Chai and directly connected to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, the hotel strikes a balance that’s surprisingly hard to find in Hong Kong — established enough to carry that classic sense of old Hong Kong hospitality, yet refreshed enough to appeal to the modern luxury traveller seeking comfort, practicality, and contemporary design.

Grand Hyatt Hong Kong has evolved thoughtfully over time, while incorporating contemporary design details and modern comforts that elevate the overall guest experience.

Spacious Rooms

During our two-night stay, we were accommodated in a King Room with Grand Club access, connected to a Twin Room within the same category - an ideal configuration for families travelling with children, thanks to the interconnecting layout. Although the hotel itself is one of the more established luxury properties in the city, the rooms exceeded our expectations entirely. Spacious, modern, and thoughtfully designed, they offered everything one could want from a luxury city stay, alongside sweeping views of Hong Kong’s iconic skyline.

The beds were plush and deeply comfortable, while the open-plan ensuite bathrooms had been seamlessly integrated into the room design. Automatic privacy shutters allowed guests to transform the space at the touch of a button. These rooms are particularly suited to travellers who spend their days exploring the city and want somewhere stylish, calming, and comfortable to retreat to afterwards. The atmosphere feels light-filled and understated, allowing guests to unwind while taking in the dramatic skyline views that define Hong Kong.

Guests booking this room category also receive access to the hotel’s exclusive Grand Club, located across the 30th and 31st floors. Reserved for suite and club-level guests, the lounge offers one of the most spectacular vantage points in the city and serves as a peaceful space to relax throughout the day. The Grand Club offers an impressive selection of dining experiences, including breakfast, all-day refreshments, evening cocktails, and Champagne service. We would highly recommend booking a Club-access room for these additional privileges alone.

Culinary Delights

Dining at the Grand Hyatt is not without options, with several excellent restaurants within the property. During our stay, we had the opportunity to dine at the hotel’s Italian restaurant, Grissini, named after its freshly made breadsticks. Upon entering, guests are immediately greeted by the sight of its chef expertly crafting breads by hand before baking them in a traditional oven. The menu draws inspiration from the Campania region of Southern Italy and highlights both regional ingredients and fresh seasonal produce.

Grissini strikes the perfect balance between elegance and warmth, making it suitable for everything from business meetings and celebrations to intimate dinners and relaxed evenings with friends. For breakfast, Grand Club guests have the option of dining either within the lounge itself - which we highly recommend for its quieter atmosphere - or at the hotel’s main restaurant, Grand Café. While the breakfast selection at Grand Café was extensive, we personally preferred the calm and exclusivity of the Grand Club, particularly during the busier morning hours.

High-End Facilities

Guests can enjoy a 50-metre heated outdoor swimming pool located on the 11th floor, complete with light refreshments and skyline views across Hong Kong. There is also a fully equipped fitness centre and an in-house spa for those seeking additional downtime during their stay. Although we did not make use of the spa facilities on this occasion, they provide another layer of comfort for guests wanting to relax without leaving the hotel.

Final Verdict

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. In a city filled with luxury hotel options - from ultra-luxurious five-star properties to more traditional heritage hotels - the Grand Hyatt occupies a particularly appealing middle ground. It retains the sophistication and service expected of a five-star hotel while offering rooms that feel exceptionally well suited to the modern luxury traveller.

The interiors are minimal, elegant, and stylish without ever feeling over-designed. More than anything, it is the combination of comfort, practicality, and those extraordinary skyline views that make the experience so memorable. These are the kind of rooms guests genuinely look forward to returning to after a long day in the city, and for that reason alone, we look forward to returning ourselves.
