Here the aesthetics whizz details his most popular treatments to rejuvenate skin post-winter, plus the new innovations to have on your radar.
How did you first get into the aesthetics industry?
I graduated in medicine in Brazil more than 30 years ago and initially worked in the field of Occupational Medicine. Having a passion for Aesthetic Medicine – and due to major advances in aesthetic non surgical technologies — I worked and trained with some of the best doctors and surgeons in the field of aesthetic medicine.
On relocating to London in 2005 I continued working in Aesthetics and opened my first clinic on Wigmore Street in 2013 opposite Wigmore Medical Academy where I worked as Lead Trainer in Advanced Aesthetics and taught advanced aesthetic techniques to doctors and surgeons. In 2017 I opened my clinic in Marylebone where I have a team of Aesthetic Skin and Laser Specialists delivering outstanding treatments to our discerning clientele.
How long has your clinic in Marylebone been open and how has it evolved?
Our clinic in Marylebone has now been open for seven years. Our arsenal of advanced aesthetic technologies has grown and includes a full range of face and body treatments and technologies ranging from Ulthera and Morpheus8, to Picosure laser treatment among many others. We consider ourselves total body and face treatment specialists and offer our clients everything they may need to deal with any anti-aging skin concerns and issues they may have, all in one place.
You describe your approach as ‘less is more’ how does that manifest in say your approach to injectables?
I have always believed in using injectables, whether dermal fillers, botox, PRP/PRF or mesotherapy treatments in a subtle way to help restore lost volume, lift, and tighten the face whilst reducing and minimising lines and wrinkles. My ‘less is more’ approach has become the mainstay of my practice and clients appreciate that they will have natural looking results, helping them to look refreshed and rejuvenated without changing the way they look in any way. In fact they seek out my clinic for this specific reason.
What are your most popular in-clinic treatments and do you have any signatures?
Our most popular in-clinic treatments are the usual Botox, PRP, Picosure and our medical grade Hydrafacials. Our signature treatment is our Brazilian Zero Downtime Facial combining the power of ZO Skin Health with the antioxidant ingredients derived from Brazil nuts, selenium, which has been used for centuries but is growing in popularity within the beauty industry.
Post-winter lots of our readers will be dealing with dry, dull skin, what treatment is best to combat this?
We would recommend a course of Hydrafacial treatments to improve skin health, tone and texture. A Hydrafacial is one of the most powerful, non-invasive skin resurfacing treatments available today which combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection to remove dead skin cells and impurities while simultaneously delivering moisturising serums into the skin.
What are some skincare non-negotiables our readers should adhere to this year?
SPF every single day, without fail. Even if you are inside on your computer, the blue light is harmful to your skin.
What beauty trends do you predict to be big in 2024?
Treatments that regenerate the skin, long term — instead of short term ‘cosmetic’ only use of botox and fillers, for example, Polynucleotides.
What innovation in the beauty industry is currently exciting to you?
Seventy Hyal 2000 — one of the next generation of skin boosters that everyones talking about at the moment, containing hydrating hyaluronic acid to stimulate collagen and elastin production. It really helps to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and crepiness. It’s great if you combine this with a couple of Picosure laser treatments spaced about four weeks apart to keep pigmentation at bay.
