Both rooms offered comfortable mattresses that rivalled those of many luxury hotels, while the expansive city views only enhanced the feeling of residing in a private Shanghai apartment rather than temporary accommodation.

Practicality has also been carefully considered. A second bathroom means there is never a queue in the morning, while conveniently positioned power sockets and USB charging points beside each bed remove the need to search for adapters or extension leads. Meals ordered through local delivery apps arrived effortlessly, often delivered directly to our door by the residence's robot butler, while evenings were spent enjoying dinner together against the backdrop of Shanghai's illuminated skyline.
