You may have already heard of SALON64, one of London’s coolest hair salons, famed for serving up fresh cuts to London’s elite since it opened its doors in Soho back in 2018.

But what you may not be aware of is how it’s planning on ringing in its second anniversary… by opening CLUB64; the hottest new private members club in the city. I was lucky enough to be invited and I wasn’t disappointed.

The entrance of CLUB64 was absolutely packed, with the usual glass shop of the salon concealed with people from onlookers. This was a calling card that CLUB64 was now open. As you approach the club, you are met by a hidden facial recognition camera that only patrons will be able to identify, the club closes its doors securely behind you as you prepare for your evening at CLUB64.

Located within the sleek chambers of the salon itself, CLUB64 is modelled to be a modern-day speakeasy. Inside, members are welcomed by lavish interior design, private rooms, a fire pit running through marble worktops and a mixologist to craft tipples from the designed drinks menu, which includes the club’s signature “Liquid Gold” cocktail. Members can also use the clubs garden terrace to enjoy an al fresco night out in the heart of Soho.

Seated in a private spot at the back of the club we were treated to our own mixologist, who made some of the best cocktails I’ve ever tasted (and believe me, I’ve tasted a few!). They were all named after hairdressing terms and I enjoyed sipping on a ‘short, back and sides’, with ‘The Bob’ being my favourite. It contained Frangelico Hazelnut Liqueur which is made using toasted wild hazelnuts combined with cocoa, vanilla berries - with the addition of sugar syrup, the cocktail was wonderfully sweet and totally moreish.

CLUB64 pays homage to the very first French salon which launched in 1664; salons were located within mansions adorned with opulent interior design with access granted to only the most elite ladies of the times. Private spaces were occupied where well-trained hostesses would take care of their guests’ every need prior to their evening events.

Before leaving I was ‘gifted’ a membership card to the club and poker chip, which allows me to bring a guest on my next visit. The whole concept of salon by day, private members club by night is very clever. I will definitely be returning!
