Brumus at Haymarket Hotel
London has long been synonymous with afternoon tea, and this offering from Brumus is a true, edible homage. Located inside the Haymarket Hotel, the British brasserie is plating up an impressive tribute to the city's most iconic landmarks.
Aptly named 'London Calling,' the tea is presented in a three-tiered tray. Both the sweet and savoury toothed are well catered to, with a curated selection of hearty miniatures and inventive pastries. The London Pride pie bite is a real standout, boasting buttery, flaky pastry with a rich filling. Equally, the spiced coronation chicken roll is a two-bite standout, packed with exotic flavours and juicy sultanas.
The top tier houses the sweet side and at first glance, looks more like miniature artworks than desserts. A tiny, sculptural recreation of Big Ben is fashioned from dark chocolate and orange — the jaffa flavour is devilishly rich and the attention to detail is so impeccable you can basically make out every window! A blackberry macaroon dyed red depicts a Royal Guard, while a light and fluffy Victoria sponge cake is topped with a gold-dusted lion, in a nod to the Trafalgar Square statues.
The venue's aesthetics are refined yet playful, boasting quirky details and vibrant colours. Creative Director Kit Kemp has brought her signature flare to the space in a way that feels inviting and approachable (think eye-catching wallpaper, oversized artworks and plenty of pink).
To round out the celebration of the city, a self-guided walking tour has been mapped out, in collaboration with Katie Wignall of Look Up London. As part of the afternoon tea, guests receive an illustrated map with a QR code containing an on-foot exploration of iconic landmarks. Overall, this offering from Brumus is a very fun tribute to the British pastime that everyone, whether a local or tourist, can appreciate.

Beautifully presented, inventive pastries
Various finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, and a selection of savoury pastries
A wide range of teas, from classic to herbal
