There is nothing better after a busy week than heading to Central London for a switch off and enjoying a nice dinner with your loved ones.

We recently popped into buzzing Soho to check out the newest member of El Pastor Taquerías: El Pastor Soho. This Mexican restaurant in the heart of London brings you the very best of Mexican cuisine.

The menu is a combination of tacos, tostadas, sharing plates and many, many different Margaritas, and both the food and drinks are getting a lot of media attention at the moment.

El Pastor Soho is undoubtedly a stunning find. On entering the restaurant, the first thing that hits you is it’s attention to detail and the vibrancy of the environment. Sparkling chandeliers, pink walls and long ceilings will instantly transport you to Mexico City. But that’s not the only surprise.. the ground floor is a subterranean nightclub, La Mezcaleria El Colmillo. A darker and cozy spot perfect for those looking to enjoy energetic and good music in a very personal atmosphere.

To start our taquería journey, we were served two delicious cocktails, we chose a fabulous presented Paloma, which was a blend of Tequila El Jimador blanco, lime juice, Pampelle and San Pellegrino Pompelmo and the house classic margarita, El Pastor - fresh lime, Cointreau and aguamiel. Both vibrant and packed with flavour.

While enjoying our cocktails, we tucked into a very delicious bowl of fresh guacamole with crunchy totopos. Guacamole is having a moment, and the El Pastor version did not disappoint. El Pastor was born from a desire to honour and recreate the best of the food and extremely good times. We couldn't agree more, so we opted for sharing dishes to be enjoyed together.

The totopos were followed up by delicious tuna and scallop tostadas. They turned out to be our favourites of the night - fresh, vibrant and brimming with delicious zesty tuna. The tacos arrived afterwards - we went for Al Pastor and Crab Tacos, quite fiery, topped with onion and coriander and full of flavour. Two very generous portions that we would happily order again.

While we were sipping our cocktails and enjoying the amazing atmosphere, our main dish, The King of the night, arrived: The Short Rib. Grass fed Angus short rib braised for 12h in a chipotle-muscovado-coriander seed rub, served with pickled onion, salsa La Maya and spiced sugar. A perfectly well cooked short rib, really tender and delicate. The mix of the sugar with the salty meat was an undiscovered flavour we truly loved. Order this amazing sharing dish which is cut at your table, and will leave you snacking the entire night.

We didn’t have much room for dessert so we opted instead for discovering the subterranean ground floor, El Colmillo and enjoyed the last sips of our cocktails.

We had such a great time at El Pastor Soho. A vibrant Mexican restaurant serving excellent quality food packed with flavour, fantastic service and an amazing environment.

Would we come back? Absolutely YES!
