A Pink-hued Haven
On our recent two-day visit to Kuala Lumpur, a city brimming with energy, flavour, and culture, we wanted to balance our foodie-led itinerary with a wellness experience. After browsing through the city’s countless beauty spaces, we were drawn to the chic, pink-hued sanctuary of Lax. Retreat - a modern, Instagram-worthy escape tucked inside one of the city’s many malls.
Far more than just a pretty space, Lax. Retreat offers a curated menu of treatments designed to refresh and restore. Alongside stylish manicures and pedicures, the retreat specialises in bespoke face and body therapies tailored to both skin type and schedule. Whether you’ve got just 40 minutes for a quick pick-me-up or the luxury of time for something more intensive, their offerings are as flexible as they are indulgent.
'The Nitty Gritty' Facial
We opted for their signature 90-minute “Nitty Gritty” facial, aptly named for its focus on deep cleansing and extractions. The treatment began with make-up removal and a thorough cleanse, followed by hydrating steam to prepare the skin.
Each blackhead and whitehead was carefully extracted, a process that was admittedly a touch uncomfortable but impressively effective. To soothe the skin, a clarifying mask was applied while a relaxing hand massage kept us in a state of calm. Once finished, serums, creams, and SPF sealed in the results. Our complexion felt noticeably smoother, brighter, and healthier - a reminder that this is the kind of treatment worth making a monthly ritual.
Other treatments on the menu also caught our eye, from “The Radiance Booster” with LED light therapy for instant brightness, to “The Glow Within” designed especially for expectant mothers, and “The Maintenance,” which uses microcurrent technology to strengthen skin against environmental stressors. In short, there’s something for everyone.
Overall Verdict
