I was very much looking forward to my visit to Salon Sloane in Chelsea.

I had heard so many good things about this ultra-discreet salon, which has become something of a mecca for high-profile clients, from actors to supermodels and media moguls, names like George and Amal Clooney, Taylor Swift, Mel C and Bryan Adams.

Tucked down a picture perfect London side street, it’s the ideal location for a salon of this calibre. Although small, this salon packs an impressive punch with a roster of talented stylists assembled by co-founders Belle Cannan and John Vial, including Emmanuel Esteban, famed for his sleek and speedy blow dries, and leading hair colour specialist, Sophie MacCorquodale, favoured colourist of Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson.

When I entered the salon, I was struck by the simplicity of the interior with its polished wood panelling and black leather chairs. It was sleek and unfussy and there was a sense of calm.  This isn't a salon that needs to impress with gimmicks and loud music, the levels of expertise under just one roof says it all.

I was quickly introduced to my colourists Tracy Hayes. Tracy's professional background is of the highest calibre. She spent many years with Vidal Sassoon as UK Creative Colour Director, during which she was responsible for educating and mentoring the internationally renowned colouring teams. Like most of the team at Salon Sloan, Tracy only works part time in the salon which allows her to take on other projects but also keep on colouring. She took one look at my hair and told me exactly what I needed, which was an all over colouring put on the roots and then pulled through the hair. Many salons I visit want to put highlights in my length, which I personally am not a fan of, and as Tracy explained, with my hair being quite fine that it would make it look thinner. She went for a lovely deep brown.

Following a lovely head massage as my colour was taken off, I met with Belle, co-founder of the salon who I was booked in with for a cut and blow-dry.  Belle's resume boasts over 25 years of experience and a rich Vidal Sassoon and Nicky Clarke heritage so I knew I was in good hands. She explained that my hair wasn’t completely blunt at the ends and we’d need to take about an inch off to level it up. Belle’s years of experience was evident as she cut my hair and my ‘troublesome’ fringe. She also knew exactly how to blow dry some volume into my roots without trying to add curls which would have fallen out before I’d got home.

There was a really lovely atmosphere in the salon and I could tell that the clientele who were all chatting together, had been coming here for years. When I left my hair was glossy, healthy and a beautiful deep brown. Even my fringe was doing what it should be doing. I really hope to return to this salon, it’s a class above and I want to be part of this very exclusive club.
