Dr. David Jack is one of London’s most influential aesthetic doctors with clinics across London and Edinburgh. He is renowned for his subtle approach to non-surgical cosmetic treatments, including the PDRN Salmon Sperm Reset Facial which has been designed to restore skin health and vitality.

What is a PDRN Facial?

The treatment uses polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN), a DNA-based regenerative compound derived from salmon sperm. It is often used in a plethora of skincare products and injectable boosters to repair cells, stimulate collagen production, and enhance elasticity. Dr. David Jack’s iteration combines PDRN with microneedling for noticeable results and minimal downtime. The microneedling element essentially creates thousands of microscopic channels in the skin, enabling topically applied PDRN serum to penetrate more deeply.

Treatment Review

Cocooned away on Liberty’s ground floor, Dr David Jack’s clinic is an oasis of luxury, complete with gold-framed pictures, striking modern artwork, marble flooring, and decadent wallpaper. Unlike some clinics that can feel a touch sterile, the Liberty space is full of character and charm.

After checking in for my appointment, I was whisked away into a small treatment room awash with calming, neutral tones. Bozena then conducted a short consultation to glean further information about my skin type and current skincare routine.

The treatment began with a soothing double cleanse to remove any lingering makeup, excess oil, sweat, and environmental pollutants. The Supernova antioxidant-rich gel delivered a dose of Vitamin C, Salicylic Acid, Azelaic Acid, Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid while the Afterglow cleanser gently exfoliated and nourished the skin with ceramides and hydrators.

This was followed by a peptide 2-phase peel to remove dead skin cells - a crucial step to allow the treatment to penetrate deeply. Phase one of the resurfacing system involved a gentle alkaline peel to remove surface build-up and soften the outer layer while phase two took the form of a lactic acid to restore the skin’s natural pH, stimulate circulation and boost healthy cell turnover. The second phase felt particularly tingly and

A sculpting massage ensued, followed by the main attraction: the microneedling combined with the PDRN serum. As a newbie to microneedling, I was surprised by how gentle the teeny needles felt as they danced across my forehead and cheeks. Despite having a relatively high pain threshold, I was expecting eye-watering levels of discomfort. For those who are equally as uninitiated as myself, I would compare the sensation to eyebrow threading - irritating but not painful per se.

As a final step, Bozena applied a thick, cooling mask used in conjunction with LED lights to alleviate redness and lock in moisture. She applied a thin layer of gauze-like material which she used as a base for the whipped mask. The second the mask hit my face, my skin felt beautifully soothed, and any prickling sensations instantly vanished.

The Results

Immediately after the treatment, my skin felt warm and slightly sensitive. I was expecting to see a tomato-red face in the mirror, but was surprised to notice nothing more than a flushed, lit-from-within complexion. As someone who usually has dry skin, my face and neck felt noticeably more luminous, smoother, and hydrated.

Treatments such as these often require a certain amount of downtime. Thankfully with the PDRN facial, the downtime is typically only a day or two. Aftercare included avoiding sunlight, saunas, strenuous exercise, active skincare ingredients such as retinoids, and makeup. I was also advised to use a gentle cleanser in the evening, and apply SPF 50 sunscreen.
