27th April 2018
In light of the upcoming royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, many people are waiting with baited breath to see what stunning gown future princess Ms. Markle will wear down the aisle on May 19th.
We’ve taken a look at the biggest bridal trends of 2018 to get in the royal wedding spirit and help anyone preparing for their very own big day.
Colour
Blues, Golds and the millennial favourite, pastel pinks, have started appearing on Bridal runways for 2018, proving that the age-old tradition of strictly white dresses may be fading away. Not a trend for the faint-hearted, many brides have opted to inject soft colours through their accessories and light embroidery instead.
Capes and Capelets
A great option for a mid-wedding outfit change, a bridal cape can be a less formal option than the traditional veil. As well as injecting modern style into bridal fashion, a cape can easily be removed for relaxing and dancing at the reception.
For the super fashion forward brides, or those who just don’t fancy wearing a gown, bridal trousers in the form of jumpsuits, playsuits and twin sets have appeared on the runway in 2018 to herald a new generation of chic, modern brides. Not only can pant suits be stylishly form fitting, they are also much more comfortable than a heavy dress.
Bows
From huge statement bows to tiny embroidered ones; bows are a bridal trend that is as versatile as it is stylish. Modern bridal fashion avoids stiff, rigid bow shapes in favour of a more relaxed, loose tie.
Off the shoulder
Cold shoulder bridal gowns provide a comfortable medium between sleeved and sleeveless dresses and add style to otherwise simple designs. For brides who are reluctant to wear detailed and intricate designs, off the shoulder dresses add the perfect amount of flare.
