In honour of the upcoming royal wedding celebrations, the world famous Savoy hotel has launched a royal afternoon tea and a unique royal cocktail to commemorate the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

As the hotly anticipated royal wedding grows ever closer, the Savoy hotel has launched unique new menu items including a Royal Afternoon Tea and a brand new cocktail: ‘The Royal Welcome’.

The Royal Afternoon Tea launches on Tuesday 1st May and takes inspiration from royal weddings past and present to create a quintessentially British dining experience. Served in the Thames Foyer, under a regal glass-domed atrium, the Royal Afternoon Tea has been curated by Executive Pastry Chef Ludwig Hely in collaboration with the Savoy’s in-house archivist Susan Scott. Priced at £68 per person, the decadent afternoon tea selection will include the Queen's favourite cake, a soft chocolate ganache with rich tea biscuits and rum soaked raisins, a strawberry tartlet, wild berry ganache, Croquembouche and traditional Battenburg cake. The Royal Afternoon Tea will also include traditional high tea favourites such as finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, and a range of teas.

The Savoy will also be serving Tea for Heroes, an English breakfast blend created for Terry Clark, an Royal Air Force veteran from the Battle of Britain, in honour of Prince Harry’s military service in this centennial year of the RAF. All profits from Tea for Heroes will go to the RAF Charity Wings Appeal.

The Savoy has become a familiar venue for the royal family, ever since The Queen, then Princess Elizabeth, and her sister Princess Margaret would attend the Savoy to enjoy dinner, dancing and nightly cabaret. To honour this long standing connection, the Savoy’s American Bar has created a new cocktail to mark every big occasion in the family’s history. With cocktails created for The Queen and Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Princess Diana and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s weddings, this year’s royal marriage is no exception. The Royal Welcome is an aromatic blend of Italicus Rosolio di bergamotto, Bombay Sapphire gin, Champagne syrup, yuzu, peychauds bitters and English sparkling wine.

The Royal Welcome can be tasted individually for £24, or as part of the Royal Flight for £55, which includes a collection of cocktails created by the Savoy for royal weddings spanning the last century. Sold together for the first time, the Royal Flight will be available throughout the month of May.
