The Guerlain Spa
As the first Guerlain Spa in the UK, it spans 27,000 sq ft across multiple floors and includes a 20-meter swimming pool, a vitality pool, and thermal suites with steam rooms and saunas. It has been designed to provide a personalised, holistic approach to wellness, with treatments that combine Guerlain's expertise in beauty with modern technology.
After changing into our swimwear and fluffy robes we found ourselves a double lounger in a cosy nook beside the pool. The service in the spa was just as exceptional as in the hotel itself, and we were straight away provided with additional towels and made to feel very welcome - it felt like nothing was too much trouble. You are also able to help yourself to lemon and cucumber-infused water; or order cups of herbal tea by the spas hosts. The spa area was also very quiet, which was perfect and at one point we had the entire pool to ourselves, which was a real treat.
After a swim and some time in the vitality pool, we ordered ourselves a bottle of bubbly and spent some time enjoying our surroundings and taking advantage of the large steam room and sauna.
The treatments
Time seemed to disappear and it was soon time for our treatment. The Guerlain Spa has a number of Signature offerings including the "Spirit of London" massage, which incorporates LED light therapy to relieve stress and tension, and the Royal Spa Suite Journey, a three-hour experience that includes a luxurious bath, massage, and facial tailored to your preferences. I had opted for a 90 minute deep tissue massage, having been suffering with a sore shoulder. We were both collected from the pool side and taken to the treatment floor where there were a total of nine treatment rooms. Just like the rest of the spa and hotel, the rooms are luxurious, with low candle lighting, a super comfortable bed and a Guerlain scent filling the room. I drifted in and out of sleep as the experienced therapist worked on my tired muscles and the 90 minutes flew by.
Following the treatment I was led to the relaxation room which included six beds, block candles, reading lights and a selection of snacks, including delicious protein balls and herbal tea. Our plan to only spend a short amount of time in the room, was short lived once we tucked ourselves under the velvet weighted blankets. (of which we both ordered one there and then!)
