From retro florals to colour blocking, Ina Yulo Stuve dissects some of the biggest Spring/Summer 2026 trends.

With the weather gods finally showing signs they’re fighting in our corner, there’s been a flurry of activity as cashmere jumpers are folded up, winter boots are tossed to the back of the eaves, and it seems the time has finally arrived to waltz into the sunshine wearing the latest trends showcased by top fashion houses over the past few months. Whether it’s chic joggers in a new colourway by one of Kate Moss’s beloved upscale leisurewear brands, or a throwback approach to florals from a high street favourite, here are the trends we’ll be wearing throughout the balmier months.

1. Colour Blocking

The neutral tones of quiet luxury took a backseat this season as vibrant hues were layered onto each other with intention. Roksanda and Marni led the charge with chromatic juxtapositions that highlighted a more grown-up vibe, incorporating playful textures for added impact.

2. Fringe

Fringe was injected with a touch of energy with master weavers Bottega Veneta sending a number of tassel-heavy bags sashaying down the runway. This season, we’re seeing leather, nylon, and even silk expertly spun to encourage both fluidity and movement.

3. Elevated Athleisure

The sporty stripes and relaxed fits sauntering down the alleys of Milan are a testament that the ‘comfort is key’ approach to dressing has lived on well past the COVID-19 years. While Stella McCartney continues to lead the way in this category, the Olsen twins’ brand The Row and It Girl favourite Khaite have followed suit with tailored yet technical takes on this popular trend.

4. Modern Utility

Luxurious fabrics, technical detailing, and sleek finishes dominated the elevated workwear pieces of SS26. Bulky cargo shorts and safari jackets made way for more polished alternatives with Burberry’s Glastonbury-ready pieces stealing the show and Isabel Marant’s khaki-led line-up making us all wish we were out on the savannah.

5. Retro Florals

Bold, unapologetic, nostalgia-inducing florals are this season’s take on the classic trend. Designers veered away from ditzy, muted motifs in favour of 3D decals, painterly blossoms, and vintage foliage. Dries Van Noten used jacquard in a throwback nod to retro upholstery and interiors while Carolina Herrera took her timeless vision into full bloom with oversized florals throughout her eveningwear collection.

6. Maximalist Jewellery

Statement accessories marched onto the runways and streets of fashion week in full force, a resounding confirmation of the industry’s move away from subtlety. Chanel’s chunky chokers and embellished cuffs screamed “look at me”, as did Saint Laurent’s jaw-dropping earrings that were giving pure main character energy.
