In today’s Influencer age, the need for perfection heightens through our constant stream of beauty imagery.

Notably, since Kylie Jenner took over Instagram with her lip fillers and consequently made a career out of them, the want for cosmetic procedures in 18-30 year olds has increased by 64 percent in 2015.

“The teen and young adult years are a highly impressionable time, and the more consumers are inundated with celebrity images via social media, the more they want to replicate the enhanced, retouched images that are passed off as reality,” Edwin Williams III, president of the AAFPRS says.

However, rather than just a frivolous decision, AAFPRS members agreed that the future of facial cosmetic surgery is more emphasis on “early maintenance,” by which they mean beginning tweaks in your early twenties to ostensibly delay the need for plastic surgery down the road.

The Sybarite meets with one of the most noted practitioner in injectables and dermal fillers - Natali Kelly. Based in Knightsbridge and Harley Street in London, Natali boasts a client list of many male and female celebrities as well as high net worth individuals who only want the best treatment.

Natali trained at recognised Centers of Excellence including London’s respected Harley Street. Natali gained experience in all aspects of non-surgical injectable techniques and cosmetic dermatology. She works with some of the most outstanding names in the field of aesthetics.

Natali is also incredibly personable, upon meeting her first-hand; she creates a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere and has a completely positive outlook on all aspects of the beauty industry. She firmly believes that, when it comes to aesthetics, a less is more approach works best and performs these skills with exceptional attention to detail.

How do you first get into cosmetic aesthetics?

I was always health and beauty obsessed, and with my medical background in Anesthetics and surgery, it was natural for me to combine my skills and move into an exciting and growing industry. From the age of 25 I felt that I was aging prematurely and upon adopting a healthier diet and lifestyle, I began researching ingredients of what I was putting inside my body and on my skin, I found that we are poorly educated. I have a passion to help people and to empower and educate them in the prevention of aging and skin health.

What do you enjoy about what you do?

I am very artistic, creative and an absolute perfectionist, my job plays perfectly to my strengths. I love meeting clients from all walks of life, to give confidence and to change someones self worth by making them look good and feel good will never get boring. It is incredibly rewarding and it keeps me humble.

How do you think the millennial age of Instagram beauty has affected the industry?

Instagram as given rise to cosmetic beauty trends becoming more normalised. Nationalities and cultural differences become blurred, with what is seen as being the most beautiful or who has the most followers. I think lots of people, regardless of age, may feel more pressured to look their best in today’s society of selfies and social media. For me I use Instagram as a positive tool to educate about safe non-surgical treatments and other health and beauty advice. I would hope this gives people empowerment to become the best version of themselves.

Would you say there are more young people wanting cosmetic procedures now?

Yes I would say so, mainly because of education of what is available in today’s society. I believe prevention is better than cure and if something bothers you and it affects your confidence and you can treat this non - surgically then why not?! I would not however advocate or perform these treatments on under 18’s and psychologically all clients should still be assessed for suitability.

What advice would you give to those wanting a first time treatment?

Research your medical practitioner and clinic to ensure they are safe and regulated, ideally being recommended or seeing photos of their work is a good place to start.

Most practitioners’ will over a free consultation, so attend these and ensure that you feel listened too. It is important to ask lots of questions to understand the risks and benefits of treatments and to ultimately decide if the treatment is for you. Do not feel pressured in any way.

What products do you use and how safe/natural are they?

For injectables I use Botox, which yes it is a toxin but used correctly it is safe. It is responsible for treating over 800 conditions, and interestingly we use more of it medically, than we do cosmetically.

My dermal filler of choice is Juvederm, the ingredient is Hyaluronic acid, which is your body's natural moisturiser. It is completely biodegradable and non-permanent; it can also be completely dissolved.

Allergan is the company behind Botox and Juvederm and they are responsible of the highest standards of research, development and training.

You have an A-list clientele, have you ever felt star-struck?

My client list does include royalty, celebrity and high profile clients, but for me I treat every client the same. Every treatment I do is with the same care and integrity, as injecting my own face or my family. My reputation is very important to me. I am very lucky to do a job that I love and to run a successful, international clinic in Knightsbridge. Most of my clients can go anywhere in the world to have their treatments done, the fact that they choose me is a blessing.

What would you say is your signature treatment and why is it popular?

My signature treatment is 3D Facial Contouring, this individualized, bespoke approach, treats the face as a whole creating balance and beauty.

Although we see ourselves as a reflection, others see us as 3dimensional (from all angles). I use micro droplets of hyaluronic acid to lift and contour the cheeks, jawline, forehead and nose, whilst enhancing and refreshing the eyes and lips if needed.

My injection technique is mostly blood-less and pain free, leaving little or no downtime with natural results. Ensuring that your treatments remain private, and you leave feeling lifted, refreshed and confidently more beautiful. I won’t say who but a celebrity client of mine, once said “ its like a really good facial! “.

Natali Kelly's signature 3D Facial Contouring is a complexion-perfecting, non-invasive aesthetic treatment. Using mirco-droplets of hyaluronic acid to contour and strobe the forehead, cheeks, chin, jawline and nose. Enhancing - and creating - light and shade to the face, ensuring a flawless complexion with natural, fresh results.

Using minimal product for maximum results – the 3D Facial Contouring is no exception. Natali expertly treats the face as a ‘whole’, administering minimal doses of hyaluronic acid to perfectly enhance and subtly balance facial features. A favourite amongst celebrity clients for the immediate perfecting, fresh and natural results, with no downtime.

The treatment lasts between 12-18 months, but as with all aesthetic treatments this varies between each individual. Natali’s choice of brand for hyaluronic acid/ dermal fillers is Allergan – the most trusted, researched brand on the market today. It is 100% biodegradable, ensuring the highest level of safety at all times.
