The Light Salon was founded by two best friends Hannah Measures and Laura Ferguson who had a shared passion for the benefits of LED treatments. They went on to found The Light Salon due to the lack of concentrated inexpensive LED treatments in the market.
Why invest in this? It’s for someone that wants the benefits of light therapy without committing to a consistent salon visit and paying for it each time. This is for someone that wants a medical-grade professional product and is serious about it. For me, it’s more than a treatment, it’s a support system for my skin.
This has become a beauty tool that is part of my religious skincare routine and I feel that pairing it with active skincare creams and serums really has helped my skin improve in terms of sag, texture and complexion.
Normally, LED treatments were costly and seemed rather niche and inaccessible unless you had the time and money to spend at the dermatologists office. Both worked ambitiously to bring LED treatments for anyone wanting to boost their skin barrier within just 20 minutes for a fraction of what you would pay privately. More than that, The Light Salon is a little refuge and downtime where you get to relax for a good few minutes whilst receiving all the benefits these wavelengths of light have to offer to not just your skin but your mind and body.
For those of you new to LED therapy we’re here to break it down for you and to introduce you to one of our most favourite at-home gadgets so that you can make the most of these treatments from the convenience of your home, or anywhere really. It’s important to think of LED acting like the sun does to a plant; plants require light for photosynthesis so that it can convert the light, oxygen and water into energy. This energy is what enables a plant to grow. In terms of LED for the skin, depending on the wavelength of light, it penetrates the dermis to regenerate cells whilst also delivering nutrients and oxygen to the area treated and also soothes inflamed areas. Take for example The Light Salon’s Red 633 NM Light - don’t be intimidated by the number and the abbreviation, 633 NM just means the wavelength of the red light. 660 NM is actually known and considered to be the most beneficial red light wavelength, which means deeper penetration into the skin, promoting cell proliferation, DNA synthesis and cell adhesion. Essentially, red light has longer wavelengths than blue light which means that red light is better targeted for under the dermis (builds collagen and elastin, reduces inflammation, helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles) whilst blue light is better absorbed on the surface of the skin (improves uneven skin tone and texture, kills blemish forming bacteria, reduces oil production). The Light Salon offers its Red 633 NM light for those seeking to stimulate collagen, encouraging healing, shrinking the appearance of pores and fine lines and is especially useful for those who have been around too much sun exposure. In other words, red light is a great support for anti-ageing whilst blue light is great for acne-prone skin.
Besides the array of treatments the Light Salon has to offer (from its signature near-infrared 830 nm light, the most powerful of wavelengths to bespoke LED treatment) they also offer a wonderful product selection that you can purchase and use at your convenience. We loved this aspect about The Light Salon because it really takes into consideration the accessibility for those who just don’t have the time to make their way for a treatment. This is especially the case for mothers who are either too busy working or too busy looking after their children (this goes for dads too) but take their skincare routine seriously. One of the standout gadgets for us is their Boost LED Face Mask and we’re here to talk to you about it.
What drew me to the product was first and foremost the founder's story and the benefits of light therapy as well as the convenience and expense. After doing all the research and understanding what light therapy can do for the skin barrier, and because I’ve not really introduced myself to these types of gadgets, I really wanted to rely on a product that could treat my skin besides the skincare creams and serums that I use. If you’re like me, easily influenced by skincare trends and such, but also find that creams and serums only do so much of the work and that there has to be more for the skin (besides eating healthy too), then I welcome you to invest in the Boost LED Mask. Here’s why. The mask emits red 633 nm and near-infrared 830 nm light, which as mentioned are the most beneficial and clinically-proven wavelengths that rejuvenate the skin, reduces fine lines and wrinkles and even skin tone. The more effective way to use this silicone light-weight mask is to use it with a serum or a mask, which it comes with. Using the mask as part of your skincare routine means that you’re giving yourself a 10-minute light treatment that sinks into the skin for maximum benefit whilst almost putting you into a meditative state. Wearing the mask sort of forces you to sit or lie still and once the light is emitted there is a sense of relaxation and calmness that comes with it.
What I really loved about this mask besides the technology is that it's super lightweight and portable. The package is enough to please someone that appreciates aesthetics but it’s what is inside the box that really considers the convenience and quality - for example, the mask which is made of silicone is super lightweight and has a velcro attachment to adjust the tightness once its attached to your face, it also comes with various plugs so that whichever country you might be in, you can easily charge the device and use it. It also comes packed with a cleanser and a serum to further activate the benefits of the technology within your skin's barrier. To really see the results is to use it consistently over 3-4 days a week over 4 weeks. Consistency really is the name of the game and you may find that taking 10 minutes of your day or skincare routine might be a hassle, but that’s what’s needed to see the results. I’ve been using the mask for about the same amount of time as recommended and can already feel a more even texture and complexion. This has become a beauty tool that is part of my religious skincare routine and I feel that pairing it with active skincare creams and serums really has helped my skin improve in terms of sag, texture and complexion. As an exhausted mother of two toddlers, my skin has felt lacklustre and droopy. Minus the lack of rest that I’m getting and perhaps drinking too much caffeine has further aggravated my complexion. The mask is supporting me and it genuinely makes me feel good whenever I put it on.
Why invest in this? It’s for someone that wants the benefits of light therapy without committing to a consistent salon visit and paying for it each time. This is for someone that wants a medical-grade professional product and is serious about it. For me, it’s more than a treatment, it’s a support system for my skin. It takes a good diet, good habits, positive outlook, efficacious skincare creams and a clinically-proven treatment (in this case, a gadget) to help your skin from ageing too quickly. This was my goal, to rely on a tool that could support me as I age and I find that this mask soothes my skin but also soothes my mind and body during those 10 minutes. It is easy to use and comes packed full of information both within the box and on The Light Salon’s website. Besides, even if you’re not sure about the product, I highly recommend going to visit The Light Salon for a couple of treatments so that you can decide for yourself.
