The hotel is approximately a 40 min drive from Malaga airport, and a mere few steps away from the chilled beach vibes of Playa de Nagüeles. Marbella's charming old town is an idyllic 15 minute bike ride away (and the hotel provides bikes for hire), with the public spaces littered with ultra-hip post-modern artwork and old-school Hollywood glamour. Trendy neon signs accentuate the urban charm of the hotel - if you were ever invited to Robert De Niro's living room, you would imagine it would look like this! On checking-in, you are handily supplied with a resort map to help you navigate the grounds, as well as also providing golf buggies to transport you to your suite. You will undoubtedly notice their resplendent gardens with tropical plants from all over the world, and the greenery helps to promote a serene tranquillity that is synonymous with the Nobu brand.
The Nobu Philosophy
Nobu Hotel Marbella is more than just a hotel, its a lifestyle choice.
Nobu hotel group has been riding the crest of a wave in recent years. From zen Japanese designs to exquisite cuisine, Nobu has been winning admirers the world over. On the plush 'Golden Mile', Nobu Marbella is a destination in itself. It's a self-contained resort that will satisfy your gastronomy, relaxation and shopping needs. Within the same complex as Puente Romano beach resort, guests luckily share the same world-class facilities, yet Nobu guests also get exclusive access to a Nobu pool area, which coincidentally is the same arrangement as when we visited Nobu Hotel Miami Beach. You will also get priority seating and preferred access to Nobu and La Suite, Marbella’s most exclusive club. If you know how popular both institutions are, you'll appreciate this is a considerable benefit.
The rooms vary from deluxe at 40m², to the four-bedroom suite at 250m², and the décor is all about soothing wood and neutral tones. Even the art installation hanging on the walls involves the clever arrangement of timber. There are luxurious seating areas both inside and outside, and the balcony looks towards either some parts of the tropical gardens, or the buzzing La Plaza area. Thoughtful touches from the hotel include offering a KLORIS CBD sleep patch to ensure you drift off into a sound, refreshing sleep. They offer top-quality toiletries from Natura Bissé such as a heavenly-sounding repairing shampoo made with rosemary and white tea, and other items offered include night cream and make-up remover. Rainfall showers are quite common these days, but it is situated in a very commodious bathroom. You'll notice they are fiercely supportive of high-end Spanish brands, so you'll see the ergonomic taps are made by Villarreal-headquartered, Porcelanosa.
You can wax lyrical about their dining options endlessly, given the number of world-class restaurants they have on site. Residents flock to La Plaza for the finest gastronomic experience Marbella has to offer. At the top of your list should of course be Nobu Marbella - to which you should be ordering their omakase menu - the greatest hit by Chef Nobu Matsuhisa. The signature black cod miso still delivers the wow factor; it's silky, buttery, and it's filled with healthy omega-3 fatty acids, and the yellowtail with jalapeño is refreshing yet offers a spicy kick. The Nobu bar is always popular, whether you are looking for an apéritif or a digestif.
The award for the most enchanting dining room goes to Seagrill. Created by renowned British interior designer, Andrew Martin, it strikes the right balance between refinement and relaxation. And the soothing sound of the Mediterranean sea is always going to enhance your seafood experience. They've got the most eclectic of seafood menus, from spider crab salad, to warm Garrucha prawns, to lobster gratin with kimchi sauce. This is also the venue where they serve their extensive buffet breakfast where you can sample the finest of Iberian ham. Other venues to consider include the immersive dining experience at the Supperclub, where you will be dazzled by a world of theatricality, and Leña Marbella, curated by chef Dani García, voted the most beautiful restaurant in the world by The Restaurant & Bar Design Awards 2021.
The activities on offer are second to none in Marbella. The Puente Romano Tennis Club is regarded as the best in southern Europe and is regularly used for practice by leading ATP and WTA tour players (the hotel can even arrange on-demand lessons for you!). They have various ornately tiled pools, including the adults-only pool exclusive for Nobu guests, but if you want to head for the beach; they also provide Nobu cabanas and beach umbrellas where you can go to relax under the sun, and even get a Nobu signature massage. Six Senses Spa Marbella focuses on wellness and positive lifestyle changes, which is very much in line with the Nobu experience. They have six interior treatment rooms plus three canopied cabana rooms. The wet area features extensive hydrotherapy and cold plunge pools, experience showers, a herbal steam room, a sauna and a hammam. All this is experienced next to the beguiling sub-tropical gardens and the Mediterranean sea. Their cutting-edge gym with a living wall and state-of-the-art TechnoGym equipment is the most impressive fitness centre you will ever encounter at a hotel, including a spacious Everlast boxing ring and medical professionals on hand to give you any holistic advice you might crave.
Unlike some Spanish resorts, Nobu Marbella is an all-year-round destination. Some activities might not be available such as water sports (available from June to September), but there are always plenty of things to do. From trying the latest gastronomic masterpieces at their countless restaurants, to shopping at deluxe boutique stores like Orlebar Brown.
