Onima - five levels of decadence
Inspired by the white-washed towns and glittering blue seas of Greece, Onima is a taste of magical Mykonos, coming to London on 1st November.
Onima is a unique hybrid of bar, restaurant, private dining lounge and rooftop terrace, and is the brainchild of founder Alexandros Andrianopoulos, who set out to capture the atmosphere and reputation of Mykonos, a Greek island which has fast become one of the world's most sought-after destinations. Andrianopoulos has managed legends such as Nammos and Interni, building success internationally for NYC’s Bathtub Gin and Bagatelle in Dubai, and his newest venture, Onima, is set to be the ultimate luxury lifestyle experience to captivate Londoners.
Onima's five-floor residence was once the headquarters of Cartier's watchmaking empire, and has been skilfully re-imagined by leading Greek interior designers Archset to become a sensory experience from start to finish. The first level of the Onima experience, the ground floor restaurant, is dominated by a huge bar covered in rich bronze details, and the whole room oozes style and sophistication, flooded with natural light.
Here guests can lounge on cosy velvet sofas and armchairs, surrounded by walls covered in ever-changing artwork designed to reflect London's mood. As darkness falls, Onima's atmosphere changes from a relaxing escape to a hedonistic hub, hosted by the some of the world's top DJs.
Onima's decadent menu reflects some of the most exciting and elegant flavours in Mediterranean and Asian cuisine, with sublime signatures including beef tartare with orange ponzu sauce, heritage tomatoes & celery; King crab salad with seaweed & caviar dressed with yuzu, spring onion, truffle and Pineapple carpaccio with cardamom, and star anise and coconut panna cotta. Alongside this satisfying amalgam of flavours is Onima's cocktail collection, spearheaded by the dazzling Purple Rain, a blend of mezcal and grapefruit, cardamom, prickly pear, aquafaba and soda.
Ascend to the first floor and you will find a more mysterious and sultry area, where the design team has added deep American walnut, harsher smooth metals and fabrics in all shades of blue, along with a number of colourful mirrors which create a sense of space and transform the room into a never-ending illusion.
Over the next few months, Onima will also house an intimate private lounge complete with striking fireplace, and a breathtaking glass-enclosed rooftop terrance that will allow guests to tower over Mayfair and admire the night sky. Opening on November 1, Onima's unique and decadent five level experience is set to become the benchmark for luxury entertaining in London.
