From the hottest new collaborations to the ever-evolving restaurant scene, here are 18 things on The Sybarite’s radar this May.

Ask anyone who lives in London, and they’ll surely tell you there is no shortage of exciting openings, launches and events taking place each month - the trouble is usually hearing about them. Chef’s Kiss 

Chef Aktar Islam - best known for helming Birmingham’s two Michelin-starred Opheem - has opened his debut London restaurant in Borough. Oudh 1722 is set across three floors of a listed Victorian building and focuses on Awadhi cuisine - a royal culinary tradition from Lucknow. Menu highlights include slow-cooked dum dishes, curries for sharing, and zingy kebabs. Yes please!

Worth The Weight

Luxury health club, Third Space, has expanded its offering with a new opening in Chelsea. Focusing on performance, recovery and mindfulness, this new club is spread across five floors and blends historic elements with cutting-edge technology such as the brand’s first Velocity Based Training System. Elsewhere, the club boasts a dedicated stretching zone, an immersive recovery spa, four studios, and a wet spa complete with a signature pool, hydrotherapy, sauna, and cold plunge.

Sea-ze The Day 

On 29 May, new bistro and fish shop, The Sea, The Sea, will open its doors on Chelsea’s Pavilion Road. The brainchild of Alex Hunter, this new site will operate as a 40-cover bistro-style restaurant as well as a fishmongers and shop offering freshly prepared lunch boxes and provisions. By night, the shop will transform into a slick 10-seat seafood bar.

¡Delicioso!

Following its debut on Tottenham Court Road, Latin American hacienda-style restaurant, Tigermilk, has now launched at Spitalfields - its largest site yet with a staggering 280 seats. The menu features an array of vibrant, shareable dishes including cochinita pibil tacos, ceviche, and desserts such as maracuyá tiramisu. To elevate the experience, sample one of the 250+ tequilas and mezcals on offer.

Burgers With a Bite

For the month of May, Thai-American restaurant, Chet’s at The Hoxton, will welcome Alvin Cailan as part of Chet’s & Friends - a seasonal celebration of community, creativity and collaboration. Shaking things up, he’ll be bringing three of his burgers to the Big Smoke: the Green Light burger, the LA Style chili burger, and the Spicy crispy eggplant sandwich. Alongside these burgers, Chet’s will also serve their renowned Chet’s hot chicken sandwich packed with crispy chicken, spicy Thai chilli glaze, dill pickles, and Thai basil aioli.

Hair Heroes

B-Corp haircare brand KEUNE has unveiled four new stand-out products crafted in collaboration with celebrity hair stylist Luke Benson. The newcomers - Air Flow, Sea Foam, Golden Gloss and Steel Lock - have been designed to elevate your hair game across both preparation and styling. We’re currently swooning over the juicy Golden Gloss oil-infused hair perfume which layers beautifully with your own signature scent, as well as the Steel Lock hair spray - a game changer when it comes to taming those flyaways.

Tea-riffic 

London hotel Templeton Garden will launch its new Hidden Garden Afternoon Tea on 15 May. Taking its cues from the hotel’s own green space, the decadent new offering is served across three tiers and features an array of sweet and savoury treats such as English strawberry and chocolate choux bun and foraged elderflower and lemon macaron. Wash these morsels down with a pot of English Breakfast, or indulge in a glass of Nyetimber Demi-Sec or a trio of cocktails from the hotel’s bar, Sprout. Pricing starts at £55 per person (£65 with a glass of Nyetimber or £70 with a trio of cocktails).

Japanese Feast 

Thesleff Group (which also operates brands including Los Mochis and Sale e Pepe) has recently opened a refined Japanese restaurant in Mayfair called MA/NA. Led by Executive Chef Leo Tanyag, this new dining spot is a celebration of Japan’s culinary traditions, with dishes such as Toro Tartare and Wagyu Ishiyaki seared on Himalayan salt stone leading the pack. Its late-night cocktail bar, meanwhile, spotlights rare spirits and 1970s Tokyo soul.

Stylish Serves 

To coincide with the latest Devil Wears Prada movie, The Coral Room has introduced a new line-up of cocktails and light bites for those looking to elevate their cinema experience. A stone’s throw from The Dominion Theatre, the Coral Room has whipped up a trio of serves inspired by some of the film’s most memorable scenes. Take your pick from The Runway Royale, Cerulean, and the Miranda Club. That's all.

Botanical Bites 

From 18-24 May, South Kensington hotspot Botanica will offer a limited-edition Afternoon Tea menu inspired by Olivia Laing’s memoir, Garden Against Time. A celebration of the changing seasons, this afternoon tea includes sweet and savoury bites such as rose-shaped salmon tarts with crème fraiche and dill and lavender-infused cheesecake. The setting only serves to enhance the experience. Unlike traditional tea spots, Botanica’s Tea Room is housed in a Victorian glass and mirrored atrium complete with cherry blossom flourishes and verdant greenery.

Paw-fect 

Dog owners listen up! On 16 and 17 May, Angela Hartnett’s Cafe Murano Marylebone will host its first Waggy Weekend, inviting guests to bring their furry friends with them for brunch or lunch. While guests feast on the new spring menus, their pet pooches can enjoy house-made treats and water bowls. What’s more, dog portrait artist Jeff Yeung will be on hand to offer bespoke pet portraits, while Pooch’s Butler will be available for any grooming services.

Serene Soundbaths 

W London has launched a new partnership with Superoom - a functional mushroom brand founded by Roxanne Pryor. As part of the collaboration, hotel guests and London locals can enjoy a programme of experiences to support sleep, focus, energy, and recovery. On 30 May, the hotel will be kicking off their reishi soundbath series which combines layered audio and atmospheric visuals to restore calm, regulate the nervous system, and enhance recovery.

Mission Delicious

Raffles London at The OWO has put together a new afternoon tea inspired by hit musical, Operation Mincemeat - a move which also honours the building’s past as the Old War Office. Guests can feast on an array of tartlets, classic finger sandwiches, and scones before tucking into five eye-catching cakes that reflect key moments of the 1943 covert military operation.

Transporting Scents

Yearning for an evocative summer scent with a touch of la dolce vita? Jo Loves has expanded its line-up of transporting scents with a zesty concoction dubbed With Love From Capri. An ode to Italy, the sensual fragrance boasts notes of bergamot, lemon, mandarin, bitter orange, ginger, and magnolia.

Cinematic Serves 

This month, W London has partnered with the Design Museum to celebrate its Wes Anderson: The Archives exhibition, which is running until July 2026. The partnership includes weekly film screenings, a whimsical cocktail menu created in collaboration with the designer behind some of Anderson’s iconic films, and a launch event featuring a live panel talk. The four films peppered throughout May are: The Grand Budapest Hotel, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Moonrise Kingdom, and The Darjeeling Limited

All You Knead 

Earlier this month, Bread Street Kitchen & Bar threw open its doors at 22 Bishopsgate. The all-day dining destination, created by Gordon Ramsay Restaurants Global, serves up signature Bread Street Kitchen and Ramsay’s Kitchen favourites alongside 30 new dishes. The space features 250 seats across a dining room and bar, providing a perfect space for relaxed breakfasts or intimate dinners with stellar skyline views.

Smooth Operator

With preventative aesthetic treatments taking centre stage, Thérapie Clinic has unveiled a string of new anti-wrinkle packages designed to deliver long-term results with a natural feel. ‘Just Breathe…’

Design-focused hotel Hart Shoreditch has curated several events and activities across the month of May, including a transformative breathwork session with Levin. Taking place on 30 May, this four-stage journey is delivered through individual headphones and combines breathwork, sound, and energy healing to guide participants into profound states of awareness, release and transformation.
