There is nothing more pleasing than fresh, healthy skin looking back at you from the mirror in the morning;

it starts your day, it sets you up and imbues a confidence that you just can't buy.

Jane Scrivner has spent a lifetime in the beauty industry, she is like a sommelier for the world of skin oils. For Jane, oils are the food that we need to feed our skin all-year-round, rain or shine.

If you've fallen victim to the myth that not all skin types can use facial oils, think again with Jane...

With over 50 years’ experience working with the very best natural ingredients and medicinal plant extracts, Dr Hauschka has learnt how to mimic many of the skin’s natural processes. Windle & Moodie | Three Decades of Hair Excellence

It’s not hard to see why the salon boasts such a long-standing success—this duo have styled for the likes of Vogue, Elle and Hugo Boss to name a few, and their loyal celebrity regulars include names like Cara Delevingne. The style of the salon has never dated and even with it’s sleek modern industrial interior has an incredibly friendly and welcoming atmosphere which washes over you as soon as you walk in. I was seen almost immediately by my colourist who seemed to know exactly what I wanted without me even having to explain and I was left with a strong sense of reassurance as I waited for her to mix up my colour.  After a relaxing 20 minutes underneath the heat lamp I was taken downstairs to a room which resembled a spa more than a hair salon. The lighting was dim and my hair was washed and head massaged expertly as I relaxed in one of the reclining chairs. I believe I may of actually fallen asleep as the hair mask was left in to work it’s magic. Windle & Moodie use all their own in-house products inspired by tea or volcanic ash, after being introduced to the world of French pharmacy hair care.

Review of Inanch London – a hair salon with a touch of class

Set up by the award-winning hairdresser Inanch Emir and her husband Joe, the small yet stylish salon sits on Great Portland Street in London’s exclusive Fitzrovia, nestled among fine-dining restaurants and private clinics. Inanch has been in the business for over 25 years, starting out as a hairdresser at a nearby high-end salon and soon making a name for herself in the world of extensions. Having her own salon was always her dream, and in 2005 she and Joe took the plunge. With a long list of famed clientele, the salon specialises in extensions, and as Inanch understands the need to keep hair healthy, has introduced various hair loss treatments, designed by the much-celebrated trichologist Philip Kingsley. Not one to be over ambitious with my hair, I had booked in for a colour, cut and blow-dry. As many hairdressers have said over the years, ‘I have very fine hair, but lots of it!’.  Therefore it’s important that I do as much as possible to keep my hair in good condition by limiting the amount of heat applied to my hair, as well as using hair products that do not include sulphates or parabens.

Review of New year, new you

For others this might mean doing more charity work. But let’s start with the basics; no one can help you be truly happy unless you’re truly happy with yourself. And for most, this will be how you feel when you look at yourself in the mirror every day.

In terms of ingredients, the Miracle Broth is a concoction of lime tea and hand-harvested sea kelp from Vancouver. It is the kelp and its ability to self-regenerate that has made this ingredient so potent and resourceful, transforming it as basis for the cream. The defining element for the brands range of products starts from how the creams are produced which is essentially through their fermentation process taking approximately 3-4 months to be able to create and deliver the La Mer cream. Within that time frame, light and sound energy are incorporated delivering a unique chemical reaction.

Fashions Finest SS19 Collection at London Fashion Week

The Sybarite went along to the SS19 showcase during London Fashion Week to take a look at the up-and-coming talent on show. International designers showcased their latest designs at Fashions Finest SS19 during the weekend at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in Holborn, London. Starting off with Nepalese brand Gauhar which focused on oversized male garments in exotic, colourful textiles, it proved to be an eclectic, inclusive and colourful mix of styles on the runway on Saturday. Next up was Misora Nakamori, showcasing an interesting white, black and metallic futuristic womenswear collection. Nakamori, who is a recent Masters graduate in womenswear at the Royal College of Art in London, describes her style as "combining decent traditional techniques and details with some accents of odd shapes or materials to suggest unique yet futuristic ideas." One of Nakamori's previous collections, Misora, was centred on the notion that "we are recording every day, every moment and every event in life paths, all of which build [our] current selves."

Review of Penhaligon’s Perfumes – a regal treasure trove of scents

Taking your breath away, captivating and divine, Penhaligon's perfume selections are treasure troves of gorgeous potions in delectable vintage-esque bottles boxed up in their own individual intricate parcels of aesthetic curiosity.Some might call them old-fashioned and it is true, they do boast an apparent antique look and feel about them. But they are beautiful things nonetheless, and beautiful things come with style and grace like their Elisabethan Rose – mildly sweet, feminine and delicate. Though the bottle may be old fashioned, the scent is not. If there is such a thing as a modernized rose scent, then this regal fragrance could be it. It is alluring and not for every women, but for that particular woman who wants a “commanding presence”. On its head notes are, hazelnut leaf, almond oil and cinnamon with heart notes of red lily and rose finishing off with base notes of vetivert, musk and wood. Then there is something even more intriguing and one we much prefer – Empress – a scent of savviness, panache and absolute posh.
