How AEOS Skincare's Sustainable Practices are Redefining...

8th September 2023

AEOS, which stands for “active energised organic skincare”, does take cues from its sustainable skincare competitors - take its minimalist branding and use of plant extracts, for instance - but what sets it apart is the brand's commitment to an ecologically harmonious approach, combining time-honoured wisdom with cutting-edge research. Picture 500 acres of vibrant, untouched, nature where every ingredient is nurtured and evaluated to ensure the quality of its nutrient value. This is Shire Farm, a biodynamic sanctuary where products in the AEOS lines are born. By adhering to biodynamic farming principles, each product is free from toxic residues and endowed with a richness that comes from balanced, thriving ecosystems.

Is Fasting the Answer to Reversing Ageing?

20th June 2023

The wellness industry has been witnessing a remarkable annual growth rate of 5-10 percent, as more and more individuals strive for optimal health and a long, vibrant life. Amidst this quest to age gracefully, perhaps the answer lies in something much simpler than we think. For the past three years, I've been on a mission to regain my sense of well-being and vitality. Nothing seemed to bring me back to the state of harmony I experienced in my 20s. Was I in denial? Should I accept that being a mother meant lower energy levels and a few extra pounds around my waist? None of these options resonated with me, prompting me to delve deeper in search of answers. After days of research, I stumbled upon the Karuna Detox fasting retreat and was captivated by the glowing reviews. Described as a holistic retreat for the mind, body, and soul, it promised weight loss and detoxification—a compelling proposition considering my skepticism after trying various fads and seeking professional advice over the past three years. Call me negative, but my expectations were modest. Yet, I was desperate enough to explore any holistic approach available.

The Ultimate Wedding Gift Guide

16th June 2023

Wedding gifts are a significant part of wedding culture, and in many cultures is how guests share their blessings and good wishes to the happy couple. Traditionally, wedding registries were set up for couples who would be moving into their first home together shortly after the nuptials, But now with some couples cohabiting long before they say ‘I do,’ we can no longer count on the newlyweds to tell us what they want. As a rule of thumb, even when a registry is not in place, guests are typically expected to bring a gift; often which at least covers the approximate ‘cost per head’ for the couple [unless the wedding invitation specifically requests gifts in another form like a charity donation]. The importance and expectations surrounding wedding gifts can vary across different cultures and social circles. Some cultures place a greater emphasis on elaborate or expensive gifts, while others prioritise the sentiment behind the gift rather than its value. Regardless of whether you’re known for being a great gift-giver or are usually the person to write their name on the card, we’ve put together a list of some of our favourite wedding-appropriate gifts, no matter your budget.

A Holistic Approach to Aesthetics at Lound Hall

30th May 2023

I’ll be the first to admit that I am easily convinced when trying the latest beauty crazes. But as I’ve gotten older and become more attuned and comfortable in my own skin, I’ve wanted a more natural appearance and approach to ageing. Gelida is a family-owned wellness and aesthetic experience dedicated to revolutionising the aesthetic industry through a holistic approach to initiating treatments. I was curious to find out how the terms aesthetics and holistic could coexist, because I for one, was not entirely convinced. Driving down the rolling hills of Northamptonshire by a member of the Gelida team in a very classy Range Rover, my curiosity piqued as we swerved into the long country road that led us up to the stately Lound Hall; my eyes wide in amazement. Lound Hall is the home of Gelida, as well as the home of its founder, Susan Mills. As I entered my senses awoke; potent incense sweeping past my nose, my eyes met with warm smiles, and my ears erected at the crackles of a roaring fireplace. I relaxed and sunk into the grand sofa, soaking up the aura that surrounded me, while indulging in an impressive selection of cakes and sandwiches for afternoon tea.

Five Steps to Glowy Spring Skin with The Skin Culturist

19th April 2023

Although April showers are still among us, we can only hope that the sun will begin to shine soon… but how can we begin to prep our skin for when the first signs of spring begin to emerge? I visited The Skin Culturist, a gorgeous boutique clinic tucked away in a scenic side road in Maida Vale. The classic coastal interior aesthetic made me feel right at home, and ready to prepare my skin for spring.  The cold and harsh winter we had meant I was constantly layering on moisturisers and serums, exposing my skin to artificial heat and lacking exposure to Vitamin D. A build-up of dead skin cells led to a dull and dehydrated complexion that was often congested, causing breakouts and other skin issues, so how did we tackle this? My consultation began with Dr Kam, a fantastic and informative dentist and master of facial aesthetics and skin health. Together, we identified my current skin issues using The Skin Culturist’s state of the art technology, and set out a plan of how I was going to get the very best skin.

Discover the Secrets of Chinese Skincare with Ashmira...

7th March 2023

Who doesn't long for that inner luminance that prompts your coworker to not-so-subtly ask, "have you had some work done?". Yet, despite being our body's largest organ, our skin often suffers from neglect due to daily encounters with pollution, harsh weather, and the demanding lifestyles many young professionals lead. (Yes, I'm talking about those of you who manage on 5 hours of sleep, subsist mainly on Pret-A-Manger, and perhaps tally only 2000 daily steps.) This is where Ashmira Botanica enters the scene. As a 21-year-old social media editor fresh from an incredibly hectic stint at fashion week, I was yearning for some well-deserved relaxation. A morning at the exquisite Chuan Spa at The Langham sounded like the ideal antidote. My therapist, Tracey (also the founder of Ashmira Botanica), enlightened me about the treatment's personalized approach. Not only would it address my typical skin concerns (hormonal fluctuations, acne-prone tendencies, dryness), but it would also factor in my biorhythms, current emotions, and the prevailing season. In the context of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), spring symbolises renewal and commencement – a period for purging toxins from the body and negative energies from the mind. It felt only natural that the treatment and products would focus on the liver and gallbladder. To encapsulate, this experience transcends mere skincare treatment. The utilisation of natural plants, essential oils, and clays harmonizes the skin's essential energy, intertwining physical and emotional aspects. This holistic approach alleviates physical tension and fosters mental clarity, offering a comprehensive rejuvenation.
