Women Who Launch: Meet Designer Hayley Menzies
In this edition of Women Who Launch, Menzies talks about making the jump from a career in the nightlife industry, how she continues to innovate while staying true to her brand ethos, and her favourite milestones from the past 15 years.
“I’ve always been fascinated by pieces that carry history and emotion - clothes that become more beautiful because of the life they’ve lived,” says Hayley Menzies, founder and creative director of her eponymous brand, who describes her mission as “creating the vintage of the future”.

29th May 2026
With the weather gods finally showing signs they’re fighting in our corner, there’s been a flurry of activity as cashmere jumpers are folded up, winter boots are tossed to the back of the eaves, and it seems the time has finally arrived to waltz into the sunshine wearing the latest trends showcased by top fashion houses over the past few months. Whether it’s chic joggers in a new colourway by one of Kate Moss’s beloved upscale leisurewear brands, or a throwback approach to florals from a high street favourite, here are the trends we’ll be wearing throughout the balmier months.
A Modern Midas
27th May 2026
The allure of sustainable fine jewellery has rocketed in recent years, with consumers trading mass-produced jewels and trinkets for more ethical pieces that stand the test of time. Leading the crusade is Eliza Walter whose brand, LYLIE Jewellery, transforms salvaged gold, in combination with lab-grown or recycled diamonds and gems into whimsical heirlooms.
Women Who Launch: Philippa Thackeray of Paper London
26th May 2026
“Ten years in, I know that commitment is not a feeling. It is a practice. Some days it is exhilarating, some days it is an act of pure will. The brand you see now is built equally on both,” says Philippa Thackeray, founder of destination-led lifestyle brand Paper London. The stylish entrepreneur is no stranger to diving headfirst into the unknown—as if earning a law degree and becoming a corporate lawyer wasn’t enough, Philippa decided to switch gears entirely when she felt the pull to launch a “bold, directional womenswear brand.” Statement swimsuits in striking silhouettes became the brand’s signature, but in recent years, it’s their innate ability to partner with hotels and craft wanderlust-inducing narratives that has really helped them stand out.
In Prada We Trust: The Ultimate Milan City Guide
8th May 2026
The long-awaited sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is finally on our screens, reuniting the original cast twenty years after Miranda Priestly’s withering contempt made Meryl Streep even more of an icon than she already was (if such a thing is possible). The new release sees Andy (Anne Hathaway) returning to Runway in a features editor role, but that’s not to say that she doesn’t get to visit one of the fashion capitals of the world - Milan. And while Fashion Week is already over for this year, fashion is a constant, not a calendar event, in this glamorous Italian hotbed of style. It is, after all, the home of the sciura - the archetypal Milanese woman known for her impeccable dress sense and attention to quality, detail and elegance. If you want to immerse yourself in sophistication and quiet luxury, Milan is your city. “That’s all.”
Women Who Launch: Ally Voss of Clover London
8th May 2026
Ally pivoted from PR to bridal fashion after she struggled to find a dress for her big day that truly reflected her personal style. With a passion for all things bridal and a desire to fill a gap in the market, she went on to launch her independent brand, Clover London, in 2021. The brand specialises in 100% silk garments as well as more bespoke pieces laced with romance and whimsy.
Women Who Launch: Meet Catherine Best, a World-Class...
30th May 2023
I walk down the chic Elizabeth Street in Belgravia and through the doors of one of its newest residents—the designer and craftswoman Catherine Best’s London showroom. Greeted with a glass of champagne and the friendly team, including Best herself, they tell me all about their latest collections and the new clientele they’ve been able to connect with now that they have an outpost in the capital. “The London showroom is an extension of Jersey and Guernsey and I hope it will be very similar in the fact that we wish to offer a fabulous, friendly, high quality service, and a place where people can enjoy visiting and spending their money [laughs], where the offering is second to none,” she explains.
How to Change the World by Buying Jewellery
22nd May 2023
Ethical diamond brand Do Amore’s founder Krish Himmatramka appeared on Shark Tank [the US version of Dragon’s Den] after applying for the fourth time, vowing not to apply again if he didn’t make it through to the filming day. His journey up until then has had its twists and turns, and a career change to top it off. Himmatramka wanted to create a product with a big enough margin to allow for each product sold to make an impact, and in came one of the world's most expensive substances, Diamonds.
The Best Pieces We Saw at Watches & Wonders Geneva 2023
4th May 2023
Watches & Wonders is a bit like fashion week for the horology world. It’s an industry-only event for the biggest watchmakers to put their cards on the table, and show what direction they're taking their brands in; both in design and innovation. And this year it's not just the usual suspects. Along with the cream of the crop, like Rolex and Patek Philippe, you’ll find releases from less traditional brands like Tudor and Oris. Here are my favourite picks from this year.
Dobrik and Lawton, the young tailors spicing up Londons...
25th May 2021
The Sybarite spoke with the founders of Dobrik and Lawton on how they got started in tailoring, their favourite bespoke piece and what the future holds for them. Tell our readers a little bit about yourself. We are both Savile Row trained cutters. That is to say we specialize in creating the geometry of a suit and drawing the shapes of the panels needed to achieve perfect fit in a garment. Along our journey into the trade, we both also learnt how to make the garments we design and cut, allowing us full creative freedom over the pieces we make.
Celebrating India Pop-up - Pippa Small Interview
24th May 2019
When did you know you wanted to start a jewellery line based on ethical consumption? The two go hand in hand; I come from a background in anthropology and have a masters in medical anthropology and human rights. I suppose I’ve been stringing things and beads my wrists for years, an almost-jewellery designer from a young age. When I started working in Borneo, I started working with NGO’s with human rights. To come from a more human rights background really informs our brand ethos, we work very ethically and want to be assured that we have very transparent working relationships and to help people, from working with artisans from conflict areas from Afghanistan to help people who have been forced out of their home and to help them. What I think is really important is to help people live a more sustainable life and to feel proud of what they are creating and to help.
