The Ultimate Dublin Itinerary
16th February 2023
All great cities have a distinctive vibe but none more so, perhaps, than Dublin. With a tourist trade based on its famous pub-dominated nightlife, Ireland’s capital has always had a reputation for being a fun, friendly city. But in the last few years Dublin’s star has risen even further. It was recently ranked at 19 by the World’s Best Cities committee – above all British cities bar London – who described it as ‘safe, gregarious and increasingly wealthy’. And of course celebrating St Patrick’s Day at the source is a bucket-list experience – although in Dublin, the festivities last for five days, not just one. For the week around Friday 17th March, Dublin will be even busier, merrier and more entertaining than usual. As is tradition, the St Patrick’s Day parade will kick off in the city centre on the 17th itself and after a two-year break due to the pandemic, this year’s is shaping up to be the biggest ever. New for 2023, the National Museum of Ireland is hosting a ‘day-to-night urban festival’ in the grounds of the Museum of Decorative Arts and History from the 16th to the 20th, with comedy, dance, music and ‘spectacle’. And throughout the city, venues will be entertaining the crowds with a curated programme of events.
Review of Alex Webb on Park Lane
16th February 2023
Webb started his career as a dishwasher in his native homeland of Essex before honing his skills inside the kitchens of some of the capital’s most iconic chefs: Hélène Darroze, Adam Handling, Michel Roux, and Heston Blumenthal, to name a few. In the finals of MasterChef: The Professionals, Webb had to make three dishes in three hours, but working under pressure is an environment that the chef says he thrives in.

Back to nature: low-intervention wine is no longer just a...
7th February 2023
In a not-totally-unsurprising-move, given the direction social change has been heading in for the last couple of decades, wine drinkers have been well and truly seduced by the philosophy of natural wine. It isn’t regulated and it’s not very well defined, but the idea behind it chimes with the modern desire for authentic, artisanal products made with respect for the earth and its resources. There is currently no one set of rules that natural winemakers have to follow in order to use the term. However, natural winemakers will almost certainly employ organic farming methods – no chemical fertilisers here thank you. They’ll probably have stripped their processes back to a minimum, as the pendulum has swung from years of highly industrialised intervention to simple, ancient practices. They may even follow biodynamic principles, which bring an almost spiritual element to working with the land. The dominant theme is individualism over industrialisation; character over uniformity. Natural wines celebrate the terroir, the climate, the fruit and the process – and accept the unpredictability that comes with that.
Featuring The Sybarite Presents - The Best of Whisky 2022

Women Who Launch - Locket Hambro of Lockets
15th February 2022
But when I look out the floor-to-ceiling windows, it isn’t the hipsters of Shoreditch or the creatives of Soho that I see, but the suits and tweed-clad men of St. James. Founded by Locket Hambro, whose family owns and runs iconic restaurants Wiltons and Franco’s, Locket’s is a café and wine bar that was intent on doing things differently. “For Locket's, we saw the need for a place for women to go after work and have a relaxed drink with friends,” explains Hambro. “St James is catered towards men and is full of members-only clubs and expensive hotels; there was a demand for relaxed, bar-style drinking that was accessible for everyone.”

Review of The Luxury Insider Reviews Hotel nhow - Londons boldest...
3rd February 2022
This isn’t the sort of hotel I would normally check into, but its interiors fascinated me and so, I was intrigued about how much luxury this uber-cool hotel could provide. Just 10 minutes from Angel and Old Street stations, the nhow is incredibly convenient for anyone exploring this side of the city. The outside is quite unremarkable, but once you walk through the doors you're greeted by a bold and playful British theme which looks like it could have been created by Lewis Carroll and Banksy - think graffiti, a 30ft rocket ship Big Ben and House of Hackney seating that wouldn't look out of place at the Mad Hatter's tea party. If nothing else, it oozes fun and fits with it’s east London location.
The Beans & The Machines -As Good as Coffee Gets
2nd February 2022
One of the big ones is coffee. With WFH back with us, morning trips to the local artisan coffee houses are becoming fewer and further between. However, it’s not all bad news: Coffee is a national addiction, and actually one of the few itches we can scratch very well in this new era of amazing artisan coffee roasters, and with a little help from technologically innovative companies, who’ve managed to compress a coffee shop complete with bearded barista, into a machine that’ll sit on your counter-top.

Review of Ampeli - A great greek addition to Londons Charlotte Street
3rd February 2020
Being superbly located across the road from The Charlotte Street Hotel, Ampéli is set across three floors, with a wine bar, mezzanine and more intimate dining space, totalling 80 covers. When we arrived we were greeted by the general manager and the vibe in the restaurant was relaxed. Diners were enjoying a menu which is designed to encourage sharing over a glass of wine, featuring dishes such as feta saganaki with tomato jam and okra and goat’s cheese fritters.
Review of Bancone Golden Square
2nd February 2020
When Will Ellner, founder of Soho pasta hotspot Bancone, announced he was opening another restaurant in Covent Garden’s Golden Square, some wondered how he planned to expand on his humble pasta offering. Enter new Culinary Director Claudio Melis. The Michelin-starred chef has injected his creativity into the Bancone Golden Square menu with creative new pasta dishes and monthly grilled specials like opening month’s crispy suckling pig belly with apple and hazelnut, pickled mustard seeds, and Primitivo; and pan-fried stone bass with samphire and sweet and sour beets. “With Claudio boosting the team, we’re in a really strong position to enjoy a successful foray into London’s restaurant heartland,” says Ellner.
Review of London Landmarks Afternoon Tea at The Kensington
21st February 2019
Says Benjamin Buckley, Food and Beverage Manager at The Kensington, the 5-star boutique hotel located in London’s desirable South Kensington neighbourhood. Situated on a tree-lined boulevard, the hotel is also home to the recently refurbished Town House restaurant. With its interconnecting drawing rooms, hidden whisky bar, and chrome chandeliers, Town House at The Kensington provides a quiet refuge away from the city’s busy streets. After hearing about the success of Town House’s “Tale As Old As Time” afternoon tea that brought characters from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast to life, I was excited to have the chance to try out their new offering which celebrates the city I know and love.he new London Landmarks Afternoon Tea takes guests on a tour of the capital’s most recognisable structures through decadent little bites. We started our adventure with a glass of champagne and made our tea choices. I went for the Malawi Spearmint which promised a smooth, well-rounded infusion made from gentle leaves grown on the Shire Highlands of Malawi. Soon, we were provided with our menu: a beautifully-illustrated map detailing all the landmarks we would soon be visiting on our culinary tour.

Where to celebrate Chinese New Year in London
11th February 2016
In short, it is two weeks of constant eating, merriment and customary rituals. 2016 is said to be the ‘Year of the Monkey’, specifically the 'Fire Monkey'. Although Asian in origin, the festive period has become universally acknowledged and celebrated, meaning you won’t miss out, no matter where you are in the world. Here's our top ‘picks’ of the best ways in which to celebrate in London:
Letitia Casta, Parisienne Par excellence for Cointreau
20th February 2015
Through history Cointreau has been close to women as they explore their creativity, embodying in many ways the free spirit of La Parisienne, the Parisian woman. As Creative Director of the House of Cointreau, Casta’s very first goal is to inspire women and dare them to be themselves, celebrating Cointreau’s signature art de vivre. For her first project Casta has chosen to celebrate Louisa Cointreau, due to her pivotal role for the House and her encouragement toward women to explore their creative side. “It’s the fragility of a women that touches me. Today we want to be too strong, today we want to be too perfect, and I think it’s completely wrong. We have to be in love with our femininity and this is the message I want to get across.” said Casta, whose project also involves selecting female artists from all over the world to share their own twist on life. This will happen both through a series of ‘webisodes’, each an opportunity to freely exchange ideas, but also creative evenings inspired by the Cointreau Cafe’ Society.
