Picture this: golden sunlight bouncing off sparkling blue waters, rosé poured into chilled glasses, laughter carrying across a sun-soaked terrace. Few would guess we’re talking about the shores of Britain. Where long, languid lunches are usually reserved for the Côte d’Azur or Capri, this is happening just two hours from London at The Hut. And with over 50,000 covers served this summer alone, this coastal hotspot has quietly become Britain’s most in-demand table. Read on to discover why…
A Sleepover At THE PIG-at Combe
26th September 2025
THE PIG-at Combe is a majestic Elizabethan manor house is set within 3,500 acres overlooking Devon’s bucolic Otter Valley. The scene is set for an indulgent stay the minute you open the heavy wooden door. Instead of entering the usual hotel reception, you head straight into a wood-panelled bar. It’s stacked high with colourful glassware, local spirits and a champagne bucket brimming with bottles of English sparkling wine. Rooms are exquisitely appointed with an artful hodge-podge of antique furniture, velvet armchairs and roll-top baths flanked by aromatic Bramley products. While the room was inviting, the bar below, with roaring fires aplenty, beckoned me...

The Polish economy has been flourishing since it joined the European Union in 2004. The country has the highest GDP among Central and Eastern European countries. It is therefore no surprise to discover that the stereotypical, disparaging image of Polish cuisine is very much outdated nowadays. I travelled the length of the country recently to discover what Polish cuisine truly means in 2025.

Drinks with the Earl of Yarmouth, Founder of St Maur Liqueur
15th September 2022
Having first created St Maur to serve at their wedding, William and Kelsey Seymour turned the elderflower liqueur they poured lovingly into the glasses of guests into a multi award-winning premium, small-batch drinks business. The four international industry awards the liqueur has won in its first years of business, The Great Taste Award 2 Star rating; International Spirits Challenge Silver Award; The World Liqueur Awards ‘Best English Floral’ and, most recently, Gold at Las Vegas Global Spirits Awards, show just how well-loved the product is. “St Maur” is, in fact, the name by which the family was known in medieval times but by the time Jane Seymour married King Henry VIII, it had become “Seymour.” Leaving behind a life of aristocratic privilege to create a new legacy for his sons to be proud of, Lord Seymour spills the tea on his rich family history, mixology, and what’s next for St Maur Liqueur, which he’s used to create a bespoke cocktail especially for The Sybarite.
Featuring The Epitome of British Refinement: Exton Park Vineyard
15th September 2022
Described as "Hampshire in a bottle," Exton Park Vineyard stands as a paragon of locally-sourced excellence, curating impeccable English sparkling wines. As an exclusive vineyard producer, their commitment to sustainable viniculture and the creation of a natural ecosystem lends them a rarefied distinction. The pivotal reverence for the distinctive chalky soil that underpins each of the nine plots finds meticulous care under the guidance of Vineyard Director Fred Langdale and his team. Employing the most natural methods, they tend to their 120,000 vines, hand-picking the ripest grapes for swift conveyance to the bespoke winery atop the vineyard. The grapes are then pressed plot by plot, capturing the nuances of flavors, and the resultant fresh juice undergoes the inaugural fermentation, contributing to Exton Park's prestigious reserve library.
Women In Whisky: A Global Revolution
14th September 2022
The ‘workmans’ perception led to early film imagery of miners, farmers and lonesome cowboys being pictured drinking whisky. However, a typically masculine drink is being diluted with femininity by women around the world.
Review of Din Tai Fung: Michelin Starred Dumplings
13th September 2022
Din Tai Fung has been one of those bucket-list restaurants I've always wanted to visit but not made time for due to the rumoured lengthy queues. Thankfully, with a branch in Covent Garden and Selfridges and a third one opening at Centrepoint in September, the massive cravings for high-quality dumplings should be satisfied without the need for queuing. The Selfridges branch we visited was particularly spacious with a clean, minimalist design that puts the focus all on their food. And you can see the intricate skills needed to prepare their soupy dumplings in their open kitchen. A large amount of open space is particularly helpful for their robots, Yes, some robots, help to deliver dishes to the ravenous diners.

Featuring Shaken, Not Stirred; make your own 007 Vesper Martini
30th September 2021
And of course, ‘shaken, not stirred’. With the release of the latest Bond film, ‘No Time To Die’ and Daniel Craig’s last role as 007, we thought there would be no better time to test the best gins to make the ultimate martini.
Review of The Athenaeum
30th September 2021
Overall the basis for choosing to stay at The Athenaeum in our opinion is location, five-star quality with a residential and contemporary vibe, comfort and convenience. It is conveniently located and close to restaurants such as HIDE with The Ritz in close proximity. The loveliest part about its location is that it is directly parallel to Green Park with rooms overlooking it too. So although you are in the city, the option to have a morning run or a light evening stroll nearby is something to take advantage of when choosing to stay at The Athenaeum.

Review of A Summer Afternoon at LOrangerie, Airelles Gordes, La...
9th September 2021
Lunch served on white table cloths, with majestic cyprus and olive trees blowing in the wind and crisp French rosé flowing all afternoon. A beautifully restored 18th century stately home as the setting of one of the most unique hidden gems that the Luberon has to offer. This is La Bastide de Gordes, part of the Airelles collection.
Review of The Sybarite (Unofficial) End of Summer Rosé Review
8th September 2021
And synonymous with long summer balmy evenings is, of course, rosé. With summer water gaining enormous popularity in recent years, and different experts of thoughts pulling consumers in opposing directions (is ‘the lighter the rosé, the better’ really true?), we felt it was our responsibility to put some of the more popular rosés to the test.
Review of The Luxury Insider reviews The Petersham Covent Garden
6th September 2021
Drawing inspiration from the family home, Petersham House in Richmond, the interiors of this eatery demonstrate the Boglione’s passion for contemporary art, Murano glassware and understated grandeur, reflecting their personal tastes and collections.

(Un)fortunately at The Sybarite we are avid lovers of this magnificent combination and we are always on the search for the latest openings and undiscovered gems that involve these two passions of ours.
Our Lifestyle Expert goes behind Nuet, the Scandinavian...
1st September 2021
Balance was exactly the word I had in mind as I took my first sip of Nuet. Being married to a Norwegian, I have had my fare share of Aquavit, and I have to say, Nuet’s version has an incredibly unique taste to anything I’ve tried before.

Review of Peninsula’s Legendary Mooncakes
29th September 2020
As one of the major celebrations in Chinese culture, the legendary mooncake which is originally made with sweet lotus paste and salted egg yolk, is eaten during this festivity. However the original mooncake recipe is not everyone’s favourite simply because it’s much too sweet and very dense in flavour. Enter the Peninsula Hotel, the original inventor of the highly reputed and most sought after custard-filled mooncakes, raising the bar for this classic confectionary. First launched in 1986, The Peninsula Hong Kong still carries the tradition by releasing these delicacies each year for a limited time only. As they are so coveted and sell out within a matter of weeks, few can disagree that there isn’t anything quite comparable to Peninsula’s version.
Review of Sticky Mango - South East Asian Cuisine Under One Roof
22nd September 2020
The cuisine is South East Asian which, as it is one of my favourites, meant it is the first restaurant I have gone back to consistently to post-lockdown, once restaurants began reopening. I was super happy to see the number of nightly covers quadrupling since my first visit back, with the restaurant benefitting substantially from the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme, something that Peter has continued for September. Opened in 2016 and tucked away just a short walk from the bustling South Bank and Waterloo Station, Sticky Mango is one of London’s best-kept secrets. The restaurant is spread over three floors of an historic building on Stamford Street which was previously home to RSJ Restaurant.
Review of Manuka Kitchen - Modern European Cuisine At Its Finest
17th September 2020
A true neighbourhood restaurant must be familiar, comforting, and satisfying. In an intimate spot on Fulham Road sits Manuka Kitchen, a neighbourhood bistro that serves up modern European fare to its loyal clientele. Not everyone can say that their local is listed in the Michelin Guide or was a favourite of renowned food critic AA Gill.
Review of Restaurant Review: Robata
28th September 2019
It is said that the first people who used the technique were ancient fishermen in northern Japan who brought hot coals in boxes with them so that they good cook on their boats. A newcomer to the thriving Soho dining scene, Robata by Head Chef Charles Lee allows Londoners to experience the unique taste that the robata grill brings to an array of fresh meats, seafood, and vegetables. We visited on a nice sunny day and opted for a Sake Mojito on arrival. The cocktail was made with a refreshing blend of Sawanotsuru sake (a brewery from Japan’s Kobe region), jasmine syrup, lime juice, and mint leaves. The menu is divided into Raws & Sushi, Small Plates, Robata Skewers, Bao Buns, Large Plates, and Bowls.
Review of Julie’s Restaurant in Holland Park Announces 50th...
27th September 2019
Despite the star-studded guests who have enjoyed the delicious food and lively parties that Julie’s is known for, owners Tim and Cathy Herring insist that the restaurant maintains its ethos as a neighbourhood gathering place. “We are greatly looking forward to welcoming our loyal customers who come from all over the world, as well as those from the local neighbourhood. It will be a fun and happy reunion for many friends,” says the couple.
Wiltons Oyster Masterclass
26th September 2019
There is truly no better place to learn about the art of oysters—from differentiating between native and rock oysters to seeing shucking techniques first-hand, and understanding how to get the best flavour out of each mollusc—than at an establishment which holds six royal warrants for supplying oysters to the royal household.
Planning the Perfect Party
4th September 2019
While sending out the invites early is a must, getting the venue right is crucial. For this big birthday bash, I booked Camden Place in Chislehurst - a magnificent Georgian mansion set within 70 acres of beautiful grounds. Working in the television industry and having produced many live shows in my career, I know the importance of organisation, working to strict timings and how adding some extra production value can really make a world of difference.
Featuring Indian Afternoon Tea at The Chilworthtea
4th September 2018
Indeed, there is nothing more Instagrammable than exquisite teas served in the finest china, accompanied by a beautifully-presented selection of dainty finger sandwiches and fluffy scones. Under the roof of a white stucco townhouse in Paddington, The Sybarite found a unique take on this quintessentially British pastime…
Review of Review: Peyotito restaurant
13th September 2016
Having only just opened in July 2016, the chic eatery is already a favourite amongst West London foodies, and it’s easy to see why. Chicly decorated and dimly lit, tables are illuminated by the white neon writing on the wall that reads: “Tequila is to wake the living, Mezcal is to wake the dead.”
For your next private function or wedding, experience...
23rd September 2015
The Sybarite has had the pleasure of visiting this stately residence and we are giving it the grand OK for those looking to host a private function or wedding in France that offers convenience, beauty and exclusivity. Chateau Bouffemont is the ideal place for a “homely” wedding ceremony where guests are able to mingle and hold intimate conversations in an atmosphere that provides the 5- star touch yet shows no signs of unpretentiousness. The Chateau has undergone a complete refurbishment after being bought from its new proprietor in 2012 – the theme is chic and elegant. Imagine, Tiffany coloured walls, wooden floors; gorgeous verandah overlooking the landscaped gardens, a magnificent staircase, private elevator and ten magical suites. We feel that the interior design of the Chateau combines both a masculine and feminine touch, as if its proprietors were a couple – you can certainly feel the male-touch in one of its five reception halls decked out with leather arm chairs and a fireplace, whereas the main hall hangs a large ornate chandelier with walls coloured in a sort of Tiffany turquoise green. It is by all means, a setting that is great for photo taking.
Remy Cointreau experience
4th September 2015
Remy Cointreau is currently made up of 9 brands united with 2 divisions: The House of Remy Martin, which offer a great cognacs range of Remy Martin and Louis XIII, and its Liqueurs and Spirits section which include Cointreau, Metaxa, Mount Gay Rum, Bruichladdich, St Remy, Passoa and Izarra. However, it is surprising to know that even the wines and spirits industry has to compete and constantly deliver innovative products in order to continue attracting its audience. For 2014/15, The House of Remy Martin is seemingly confident with its approach for the financial year as they are “boosted by a new packaging facility and a new spirits cellar both of which were built while respecting the traditions and expertise of a House dating back almost 300 years, yet are modern. Beyond pricing, the ultra-premium strategy is based on a pursuit of excellence allied to renewed creativity, a source of modernity, innovations in the products and in the fields of digital and customer relations.”
