Pan-Asian Feast
Pan-Asian dining concept Freak Scene currently has an exclusive pop-up residency at Soho hotspot, 100 Wardour Street. Up until November, Austrian chef Scott Hallsworth will be serving up a curated menu featuring Freak Scene favourites. Expect to feast on chilli crab wonton bombs, miso-grilled hispi cabbage, and red curry duck donut buns.
Calling all art aficionados! Up until 23 November, Dorchester Collection’s 45 Park Lane is hosting a special anniversary exhibition in collaboration with Phaidon and Artspace to mark 30 years of Phaidon’s Contemporary Artists Series. The exhibition, located in the lobby and Bar 45, now houses all 100 artist monographs alongside limited-edition artworks and exclusive contributions from leading critics, curators and writers. Prepare to marvel at works by renowned artists such as Mark Bradford, Cecily Brown, Rashid Johnson, KAWS and William Kentridge. The exhibition is open to hotel guests and visitors.
The founders of Sonia & Pawel have brought a slice of la dolce vita to the heart of Piccadilly with their latest creation, Bombolone Doughnuts. The premium Italian doughnut cafe serves up an array of brioche-style sweet treats topped and filled with all manner of carefully sourced ingredients. Pistachio fans need look no further than the Pistachio Amore, while the Apple Pie di Nonna is a celebration of the humble apple pie in all its glory. Desserts aside, the menu also features a plethora of savoury brioche sandwiches.
On 12 September, award-winning garden designer Butter Wakefield will be hosting a dahlia flower arranging masterclass in The Orangery at Number Sixteen Hotel. The wholesome experience is a must for budding florists keen to learn more about the art of growing, selecting and arranging seasonal dahlias. Wakefield will also be on hand to answer questions and share her tips and expertise.
New cafe, deli and restaurant, Aram, will open its doors at Somerset House this September. Open seven days a week, the London spot from Imad Alarnab takes inspiration from Eastern Mediterranean regions, with zaatar croissants, halva brownies and cardamon spiced coffee reigning supreme. An adjoining shop will offer Mediterranean delights including medjool dates, Aram ground coffee and roasted hazelnuts.
Parisian hotspot, Il Bambini Club, will make its hotly anticipated UK debut at The Hoxton, Shoreditch, this September. The all-day Italian dining spot offers a slice of la dolce vita perfection with platefuls of traditional fresh pasta, crispy pizza, and spritzes galore. Enjoy pre-dinner negronis, or feast with friends late into the night. For an added dose of East London cool, visit mid-week for live music.
Actor Idris Elba’s premium drinks brand, Porte Noire, is partnering with beloved Soho restaurant Bob Bob Ricard until the end of September. To usher in the start of game season, they’ve curated a decadent menu featuring a signature grouse dish, champagne pies and a limited-edition pie whistle. For the ultimate experience, guests can pair dishes with an exclusive champagne cocktail blended with Porte Noire Brut, Porte Noire Cognac VSOP, angostura bitters and a sugar cube.
Yearning for a touch of Mediterranean glamour? On 9 September and 30 September, Gin Mare and The Campaner are partnering up for a unique Supper Club Series, transporting Mediterranean-inspired plates and delicious cocktails to the heart of Chelsea. Noteworthy items on the menu include fennel salad, black rice with cuttlefish, salicornia aioli and crispy artichoke chips, and a ‘Dirty Maretini’ with lemon and basil sorbet and nut crumble.
Rejoice! Rhode has revived three nourishing lip treats and tints from the archives: Strawberry Glaze, Jelly Bean and Salty Tan. Packed with hydrating ingredients, these It Girl-approved balms hydrate, smooth and plump for moisturised and pillowy-soft lips. Star ingredients include peptide, shea butter and Vitamin E.
French Mediterranean restaurant and bar, Solaya, is set to launch at Art’otel London Hoxton on 12 September. Helmed by Michelin-starred chef, Kenny Atkinson, the new jaunt is a celebration of Southern French and Mediterranean cuisine. London’s most iconic music street, Denmark Street, is set to be taken over by a series of live performances, talks, pop-ups and art exhibitions centred around music and culture on 6 September. The event features names like Marc Hayward (Black Sabbath - The Ballet), Jay Mehler (Kasabian), and DJ Amazonica. Stalwarts aside, keep your eyes peeled for emerging talent and secret sets. The best bit? There’s free entry to all venues.
Jo Loves has officially made its Rose & Dates fragrance a permanent fixture. Originally introduced as part of the Rosé: A Fragrance Trio set, the decadent scent is now available as a standalone fragrance in 50ml and 100ml. Inspired by Jo’s travels to Marrakech, the gourmand scent is a wonderful concoction of rose water, sweet dates, orange blossom and spice. Great for spritzing on the go.
The Kolamba team are bringing Sri Lankan street food to Covent Garden on 8 September. Located on Maiden Lane, ADOH! will be offering up platefuls of vibrant dishes inspired by roadside eateries and home cooking traditions. Hearty favourites include their signature snack, vadai (savoury lentil doughnuts), and kothu (a dish of chopped roti, vegetables and eggs, tossed together on a grill and doused in curry sauce.
London restaurant Quaglino’s has teamed up with No.3 Gin to create a new martini menu and a roaming martini trolley. Up until 12 October, diners can sample the classic cocktail in all its forms. From the adventurous Sakura Martini, blended with Mancino Sakura vermouth, Luxardo Maraschino, and Akashi-Tai plum sake liqueur, to the No.3 Classic Martini served any way you like, there’s a martini to match every moment.
Ataratma London is elevating the luxury fragrance scene with its new olfactory offering. Inspired by ancient spiritual and healing practices across South Asia, each of Ataratma’s nine fragrances align with a different state of wellbeing. These include the Chakra Champaka, which combines fruity florals, orange flower, neroli, ylang ylang pistachio and fresh citruses, and the Aikyam Rose, which fuses together notes of rose, geranium, fruits, spices and woods. Heaven in a bottle.
Alexandre J. have introduced a new scent to their ART NOUVEAU collection: Sweet Enigma. Boasting creamy, decadent layers of strawberry, pistachio, tonka, and vanilla, this distinctive scent is seductive yet elegant in equal measure. Extra points for the gleaming gold bottle complete with the mask motif. Available exclusively at Harrods, £305 for 100ml.
On 17 September The Stafford London will unveil the opening of its new restaurant, MICHAEL CAINES, in collaboration with Michael Caines MBE. Diners can expect modern European fare, with menus championing the finest and freshest produce from within the British Isles. Standout dishes include classics such as the Stafford Beef Wellington, in addition to some of Caines' signature dishes like warm lobster salad with cardamon vinaigrette.
Pastry fans will be delighted to hear that Riga's cult bakery, Cruffins, has just opened its first UK bakery in Covent Garden. Expect signature cruffin (croissant-muffin hybrid) creations alongside the all-new Cruffin Burger, as well as a breakfast range exclusively to London. Don't miss The Londoner which features smoked bacon, brown sauce, hollandaise sauce and a Clarence Court egg to boot.
